Ok, first of all I am sorry if this has been discussed earlier i couldn't find anything on this. The problem is: I have finished BG2 and I noticed my alignment has changed. I was a paladin and now my alignment is Neutral Evil because i took blackrazor sword, which is ok. What I want to know is what have i lost? Will I be able to cast spells, will my romance quest continue, what effects will this have in ToB? Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK. I haven't done this in a while, but my recollection is that you become a fallen paladin and lose all of your "paladin"-ness. I.e., no more spells, no lay on hands, no turn undead, etc. I don't believe it has any effect on romances, but I also don't remember if I was mid-romance when I decided my paladin should cave in to his evil father's nature after his time in the abyss.

By the way, if you have TOB, and, by your post it looks like you do, and as this impacts TOB, this thread should go in the TOB forum. I imagine it will be moved shortly. Please remember that even threads that have nothing to do with TOB should be posted in that forum if you have TOB installed (it may turn out that something TOB-ish does impact your thread). Re-read the FAQ and rules of the various forums, it will save you from PM's from the moderators.

You don't become a fallen paladin until your reputation goes under 6.

Thanks. I don't have ToB installed, I will get it in 2 days. Another thing, will I level up as paladin or as a fighter, I mean how much experience will I need. Is there any good side in this? My reputation is 15 now.

For shame! :flaming: :nono: For keeping such an obviously evil item and forsaking all that the title paladin stands for, you should lose all of the benefits and blessings bestowed on paladins.

I believe, however, that since the game seems more bent on reputation, and your's is still considered favorable, you will not become a fallen paladin but more like an anti-paladin.

This shouldn't adversely affect your romance since that seems to be more driven by the dialogue choices than your actions.

You're asking what will happen in ToB. Moved.

IIRC, Regardless of reputation, certain actions will lose you your Paladin status. I believe that failing to take the good course during any of the final tests in Hell will do it. That means taking Blackrazor, taking the nymph cloak, letting one of your group be killed, etc. If your alignment changes to Neutral evil (or anything other than Lawful Good, for that matter), you can kiss your Paladin status goodbye.

Thanks for help everyone. I didn't know where to put this topic because it was about both games. I didn't notice any difference now, I can still cast spells, I can still lay on hands. And for forsaking everything that paladin stands for, well what can I say, the Bhaal in me prevailed.

[IMG] I believe the only way to reclaim your paladin statis (or ranger for that matter if you're a fallen ranger) is to complete the stronghold quests for your class.

At the end of them, you regain your statis. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

but of course, I'm an idiot.

You're probably not fallen paladin. There is a certain bug with it.
The trick with the Pallie Stronghold only removes "fallen" issue. There is no way to change your alignment back once you got evil one in Hell, except by cheating with ShadowCheater or NearInfinity.

Short of changing variables, nope. Once you've fallen, you cannot get back up.
