Yes, unless the read-me section of the mod specifically mentions that you need to have ToB installed for it to work. Don't forget the SoA Fixpack, and the Baldurdash patch or you'll likely run into problems.

Both Sola and Kelsey have SoA only and SoA + ToB versions. Obviously, you want the SoA only ones.

But what about when I get to ToB. is there an option to install only the ToB part?

I believe the ToB install over-writes the SoA install (it has the SoA and ToB together), but it shouldn't matter. Provided you install ToB first, and then the SoA+ToB version you should be fine. I can't see why it would screw anything up.

No problem - but why are you waiting to install ToB? Unless you don't have ToB yet, but you plan to get it, I see no reason why you wouldn't just install both from the outset. And make sure you download and install the patch before you download any mods.

My ToB isn't working. i need some help with it. it installs to 26% (full install) when it says
    Component: required data
    File group: minimum_25_data
    File: D:bad:data2.cab
    Error: incorrect function

If i do a minimum install it goes futher but still has the same problem. any ideas?

Have you installed the patch for SoA before trying to install ToB?

Sorry, but either your disc's scr*wed or your CD drive is. One thing I'd try is copying the whole disc to your hard drive and see if it will actually do it. If it won't, it's probably your CD, but it may also be your drive. If you're the same person I remember saying that they'd had the same exact file fail on several discs, it may be that the drive has broken partially to the point where it scratches discs in the same place.

If you've got more than one disc drive, try using the other one, or failing that, get a new drive. One of my comps got hosed three times during game installations (corrupted FAT) before anyone would confirm it was the CD drive, though I had a feeling all along. Don't let the same happen to you; CD drives are fairly cheap, especially when compared to the frustration you'll save. If it is a scratch on the discs, you'll probably have to get a new disc too, but I woudn't do that until you've tried the old discs with the new drive.
    ......................................................................
That wouldn't make a bit of difference. (It would actually be wasted effort.)

When I first installed ToB without the patch I had a disk error, but after the patch I didn't which is why I asked :p

My other CD's are fine so it must be the ToB CD. Fel, what do you mean copy the whole disk onto the hard drive? woudn't that be the same as installing? sorry if this is a stupid Q.

    Well, that's just bizarre. :p
    ......................................................................
Err, not necessarily. Remember how I said that it might scratch the same place on every disc? Maybe that place on your other discs isn't as important. Something to think about, anyway.
Um, no. I was talking about a copy+paste (which you're allowed to do for backup purposes to prevent things like this from becoming a problem) of the disc's contents into some folder you create for the purpose. If it doesn't work, then you need to get a new disc and/or a new drive. But if it does work, then you might be able to tell the installation program where to find the file you just copied along with the others, by using the "browse..." option if it's available to direct it to what you just copied onto your hard drive. And of course, then you would know it's the drive because the disc was actually okay.

Okay, I'll walk you through it.

    1. Create a folder somewhere (maybe in My Documents) and name it ToB disc so you'll remember what it is down the line.
    2. Open up My Computer, then D:bad: (your CD drive), and select everything in there. Hit the copy button.
    3. Go back to your "ToB disc" folder and hit the paste button.

Now if it's your CD that's scratched, the copying should stick on your data2.cab file (or possibly something even earlier), saying it can't copy the file because blahblahblah. But if it does work and copies everything (unlikely), then it's only your CD drive that's f***ed up. I don't know how it would work running setup.exe from the hard drive (it might be hardcoded to look for stuff on your CD drive), but you can always give it a shot if the copy works.
