Hi. I´m a big fan of the IWD & BG serie but is it just me or is the plot in IWDII not just a bit indifferent?

I mean in IWD i just couldn´t get enough of the plot. it was just great. But in IWDII i´m more excited to get my level up than to complete a chapter!

Sounds like your playingstyle has moved from roleplaying to powergaming. I've gotten the same, because personally, I don't think the storyline throughout IWD2 is all that good.

    It's true.

IwD2's plot is right next to completely terrible. I'm disgusted with it. I think it may just be me, but I heard Final Fantasy 7 music going on when I had to stop those two ogres from knocking down the bridge supports in chapter 1. And some of the puzzles (the monastry and the boulders) just seemed like a really cheap way of putting in more game time.

The atmosphere is sorely lacking, as well. I did not feel like I was back in the Icewind, at all. This, I think, was the most critical element missing.

But the gameplay is excellent. The spell combos and combat AI's are excellent. The weapons are spread out, and the voice sets and dialogue are considerably larger.

Plot of IWD 2 is weak when compared with BG series but it's a good game by itself. I aggre that roleplaying has died and powerplaying rised.
Setting is good, atmosphere isn't very good, gameplay is also good.

I liked the 3E rule useage, but the plot was terrible. By the time I got to the severed hand my guys all wanted to switch sides.

I quite liked the way that the plot in 2 tied in with 1. It was great to see all the characters again. Only sore point that I had was that it was "believeable" that Malavon's clone went bonkers (just) but I found it a bit sad that Saablic Tan who repented for doing evil in 1 turns out to be one of the most evil in 2!

The Kuldahar NPCs were good, but I disliked the way that they were not really adding to the story, especially Iselore. He seemed a bit...dunno...

Still, I liked it. As a sequel to 1, I found the story fit better than TOB does to SOA.

When i'd first read about the basic plot line of IWD2, i was expecting this rather expansive game, i figured the heroic resques would be there.. But when they kept referring to the Ten-Towns, i was hoping for at least that.. 10 Towns.. I Kinda missed the old Baldur's Gate Explore type thing.. Not all areas Should be (Main) plot oriented, small little sub-area, and possibly even Sub Plots! Like tha balisks.. V_Vv.. or even the little evil red mages, And the old Dig Site, that was cool.. Miss some of those old, pointless little plot points.. I think if they pull out a New Compy D&D Forgotten Realms game, they need more exploration..
