Open GL has no effect on IWD anyway.

Open gl is upposed to visually enhance your spell effects. As I have had a 3d accellerator for the all the Infinity games, I can't really tell, if it improves the graphic that much. (Means that I have never bothered to turn open gl accelleration off!)

    I'm talking about HOW...

It's supposed to support 3Dfx or something,
but I need drivers for Windows 2000...

My computer is to slow for HOW, so I maybe
it speeds up if I get my drivers right

I don't know if this helps as there are so many dfferent types of graphic cards etc. But with BG2, my machine runs faster with the 3d hardware acceleration option switched off (It's a G400 which have poor Glide performance). Anyway, if you are having problems, it might be worth turning off 3d if you haven't already tried.

From what i remember the extra effects are pretty minimal anyway.

I have a 3dfx Voodoo 2 card, and it is completly messed up in Windows 2000 because of the lack of official drivers. If that is your card, then I understand your trouble.

I do not tried HoW yet, but the card is generally not good in W2k. OpenGL in Quake 2 and 3 seems to work, but a lot of other games are just screwed. Direct3D games does not even detect my V2 card in W2k at all (it's not that compatible, but in W98 it sort of works in Black & White and others). Old hardware is only trouble :(

    EDITED:

I have tried it out now. The 3dfx standalone driver did not work, all my screen was white with sound only. The default driver is my other lame display card (the base one), and everything was lagging when I used it (it's 8 mb). Playing without OpenGL was needed, but with the new resolution everything looks swell anyway. If you install Windows 98 your Voodoo 2 card should work normal. This is why I want a new computer :D

Well, it's not that I don't like the graphics, just that the game is supposed to go smoother with OpenGL...

...and when I try OpenGL setup, I get the message that it's not supported by win2k. I therefor asked if someone had found any drivers lately.

It's only the spell effects that are supported by OpenGL, right? The game itself will take no change then.

Supposedly only the spell effects, but I seem to remember, that some of the background animation in bg2 did look ccellerated.
