Order of the Stick (OotS) party for this game has me thinking.

    Roy - human fighter
    Elan - human bard
    Varsarvius - elf mage
    Haley - human thief

    The questions are:

Durkon - dwarf cleric or fighter/cleric?
Belkar - halflings can't be rangers, so what would I make him? Did he ever take that level of barbarian? If so, he would be a halfling barbarian

:whoa: I was just thinking along these very lines today on the bus.

    Answers:
-Durkon is devoted heart and soul to Thor. He is not primarily a fighter but a healer. Pure cleric.
-Belkar seems quite a bit like Montaron, don't you think? Just sayin'...

My original thought was to do this in IWD1, but it would be a disservice to Belkar to keep him from dual-wielding. That means either BG2, IWD2 (not a chance), or DKing him to a ranger. I finally settled on BG2 with:

Roy Greenhilt - LG human fighter wielding two-handed swords
Belkar Bitterleaf - CE halfling F/T dual-wielding standard thief stuff (katana and scimitar)
Vaarsuvius - TN elven mage w/ no special weapon choice
Durkon Thundershield - LN or LG dwarven cleric wielding a hammer and shield
Haley Starshine - ?? human thief with Tuigan (rapid shot ;) )
Elan - ?? human bard with some dinky little sword

    EDIT: Kitting
You can make a case for Roy being a berserker based on his reaction to losing his sword. Major freakout. It's a nono for LG at the moment, but that's not how it was written in 2e and... let's just say that's being addressed. :D

I'd put Elan as a Jester since his songs rarely help the party...
*Confuse, confuse, confuse, confuse the enemy warriors!*

Durkon would be best as a Talosian for the storm affinity, but that would mean being evil. Helm is the next best choice only because Lathander isn't even close.

Haley I might kit as a swashbuckler if she's just going to sit back and shoot arrows. Combat bonuses with no real penalty if you're not backstabbing anyway.

But Haley loves her sneak attack! She's clearly a dedicated rogue, but you could make her a Fighter(7)/Rogue(8), to give her GM in Short Bows. Personally I think she's either CG or NG, but I lean towards NG.

And Belkar fits an F/T, given that you can't make a CE Ranger without them automatically falling. Backstab does fit though: "Meet the 8th dwarf - stabby!" Maybe ShadowKeeper him to a Barbarian/Thief? :bad:

But he should be wielding Daggers or Shortswords! :smash: Then maybe darts, as that would fit his weapon choice in the comics.

The case for Durkon is complicated - 3(.5)e Clerics are a melee force in their own right, so there is a case for Fighter/Cleric on that basis alone. Lathander would fit alignment-wise (imo Durkon is definitely LG), and there's a reasonable corollory between Boon of Lathander and Thor's Might. And we all know how much he hates undead!

Vaarsuvius I'd agree with (definitely TN), but maybe consider a specialisation... And what gender are you using? ;)

Elan as a jester... :thumb: Definitely. If only there was a way to make his song affect Roy too, then it'd be a 100% match! Only other requirement is a WIS of about 3. :shake: I'd probably say he's CG (it's stated that Nale is his "evil opposite", and he's LE, and we know he's good). NG isn't a million miles away, though, and would save the effort of any editing.

Roy as a Berserker... Dunno 'bout that. You could make a pure fighter, and then give him 1 use of Enrage/day. I think that'd be closer. And it'd help him kill (demi-)liches!

Belkar - F/T was my first choice since he can't be a ranger. Dual wielding, natch, with long sword or katana and a dagger. Remember how his offhand weapon shrunk? Specifically, Celestial Fury and Dagger of the Star.

V - I can give him/her (I feel he is a he) a female picture and male voice set (there is one very feminine sounding  ).

Elan - Oh jester, okay. :thumb:

Durkon - That's the problem with 2e and 3.5e. In 3.5e, clerics get a bit more melee prowess from their god, but I don't see him as a F/C with his devotion. He is LG to me, too, so he will be Lathandarian cleric (sorry Thor :aww: ).

Haley - She does like her sneak attack (when helpful to the storyline), but she did feel like a Swashy to me.

Roy - a pure kick booty fighter, LG and 2 handers. I have had no doubts about him at all.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get OotS portraits instead of having to make do with Bioware/outside ones? If it is not illegal, of course. :)

Sounds like fun with a OotS party for sure :) . You could use the divine remix to spice up Durkon. I guess you would have to do portraits via Photoshop. I very much look foreward to some responses from your adventures :)

Not possible for the same reason a sorcerer multi isn't possible; Barbarian is treated as a class.
Um, that's being taken care of too. 2e Jesters were restricted to the three Chaotic alignments (CG, CN, & CE) instead of the bard's normal "partial neutrality" restriction. So a CG jester Elan is a definite possibility.
Better idea: SK her gender to Neutral.

Anyway, I'd give Elan the short swords (for the casting abilities of many of them), and I wouldn't give Belkar darts (he throws daggers, remember). My mod to fix the things I've talked about (and more) is finished and will be submitted on Monday.

V is a male. One of the strips has a conversation about him being married and having a wife.

Varsavius mentioned s/he was married, but did not say s/he had a *wife*. ;)

I'm looking for portraits, so this will take awhile. I want ones that look like them if they weren't stick figures.

@Starwalker, the perticular trip said V was married, not having a wife... or a husband for that matter.

Bah. The true OotS party will look like stick figures. IIRC, Burlew said that private use was okay but public use was not, so just crop down and shrink images from the comic. I'd start with Cast of Characters and move on from there. Maybe the incentive comics even. :shake:

Um...please forgive my appalling ignorance, but...what, exactly, it the Order of the Stick?

Edited to fix my appalling spelling.

Of course this game would work better in IWD2, where the rules are actually 3e.

That being said, I'd make Belkar like this:

Start with a Human Ranger, switch his alignment to CE and race to Halfling with SK. The problem is solved! :)

Also, although V's race is undetermined at the time, I'd make V a male. Elves aren't very masculine anyway, and the avatar works for him (well, as good as it can for a stick figure).

Bravo to one of the best comics out there!

No, for various reasons. The first one I'm not 100% about:
And the second one being that it would be far easier to make a Fighter into a Ranger than a Human into a Halfling.

Besides, you know if you went with Belkar as a ranger you'd want to make him a stalker. An F/T is the same thing, and fits much better.

But... he's a Ranger, not a Fighter/Thief (I mean, we're working on accuracy, right?). He can't pick locks, search for traps, nuthin'!

BTW, who cares if he's a Fallen Ranger? It's not like Belkar ever cast a spell!

:whoa: That's...a very good point. Even Belkar's actual ranger abilities are never used because he doesn't put ranks in them. And the Animal Empathy apparently doesn't work at all even when he uses it. ;) There's still the possible problem of making a human into a halfling, though.

Also, I agree on making V a male at first. The female elf paperdoll and avatar are obviously feminine, but the male is not obviously masculine. SKing the gender does the rest. :D

What is the possible problem? Just change the race in SK.

Do they get the save bonuses if you do that? Do they get the bonus with slings (not as important, but still)? I haven't done it myself, so I have to wonder if these things would transfer with the race change or not. It'd also be kinda funky if he was able to dual as a halfling.

Can't do it. I have a brain malfunction concerning cropping pictures (or anything).

Belkar did cast some healing spells from scrolls (after getting a boost from Elan with Owl's Wisdom). If I made him a ranger, he would be human but his alignment wouldn't fit his personality. A barbarian, otoh, would work fine and he could be his halfling self.
