    Hello guys,

I remember seeing a mod at Sorcerers that reverted IWD - HoW back to the old BGI/IWD sprites. I always liked them better. However, I can't seem to find the mod. Am I mistaken and was that mod for another Infinity Game?

    Thanks in advance!

If memory serves, there was one such for BG1/BG2/tutu called pixel something. I can not say i have heard of that for the IWD games. I can not even remember what graphics are changed/altered for IWD/HOW.

One Pixel Productions mod, which can be found here convert some BG2 inventory graphics into BG1 ones. These include paperdolls, and many item graphics as well. This mod also works with Easy TuTu. :thumb:

However I do not know about a mod which does the same to IWD, besides, HoW does not really change the graphics that much. SURE, it greatly changes in game-avatars and many mosnters, as well as offering better resulotion, but I guess everybody likes the changes here, no? IWD 1 uses old, BG-1 type avatars which look..well..rather crude. Wİth HoW you use all new, great looking BG2 avatars. I think paperdolls and item graphics are not changed via HoW, at least I did not notice it (and thankfully too, I like old, BG1-Style paperdolls better, at least they do not smile! :p ) please correct me if I wrong.

Paperdoll:The figure which shows up when you open up your inventory. This is not changed between IWD and HoW.
Avatar:Your character's in-game appaerence. This is changed greatly by HoW, and for much better too! If you want to return this back to IWD form, (why?) I have no idea other than uninstalling the game and making a non-expansion installation, sorry!

I must be completelly blind then, since i have never really noticed difference on the "avatar" animation from IWD1 to HOW. i did however note (and despise!) the BG2 avatar change from BG1 ...

Either they are different or I'm somewhat of a hypocrite here.... (thank goodness for HOW keeeping the old inventory paperdolls though!)

Maybe it is a version thing? :hmm: Aww, pure IWD had old BG1 avatars, those crude ones with a hunchback, I remember it, though they have a certain charm of their own, I have to say that new ones look better:

With HoW they all become BG2 style, all new and stylish, realistic avatars, and this is a good thing.

Surely BG2 avatars are better than BG1 ones? They walk faster, have more animations, and look better overall, at least they do not have hunch-backs! :p

Higher resolution introduced by the expansion is also always good, no? I agree about the paperdolls though, BG1 ones are soo much better, that's why I have 1PP mod for both my BG2 and Easy TuTu installations. :)

A minor gripe, but I always preferred the original shields. When BG2 (and HOW) came along shields got all angular and spikey, which I hate.

Really, the new shield graphics do not bother me at all. (I did not even notice the difference, but I hardly use shields anyway!) But I think everybody has different aesthetic preferences, which is not a bad thing, no. :)

The shield thing I can agree with, but what really bothers me is one of the helmets changed in shape.

The one with bristles on the helmet (Ajantis wore one in Baldur's Gate when you first find him), looks super funk usually and they changed it into being some blurred angular thing.

    Winds me up no end.

Before I noticed the animation change on helmets (the winged one, ah) and (round)shields, I missed more the more realistical looking chain, splint and plate mail. Full plate's kinda okay.
I understand it's fantasy and some magical armor could look weird and personalised (BG2), but a smithy would most likely find it easier and cheaper to make a normal looking armor (BG1+IWD).

I thought the 'hunchback' looked cooler and, in most cases, more realistical, people didn't have a knight's posture back then.
