[IMG] Oh, how I adore a good movie with a story based on occult religious stories! I've seen The Ninth Gate and Stigmata, and find both of them very good. Anyone know of any other good movies of this kind?

[IMG] I always liked "The Seventh Sign"
It was a pretty decent (if slightly cheesy flik!)

Bel - Did you like the plot of the Seventh Sign, or did you just like seeing Demi Moore pregnant & naked???

Personally, I liked the Exorcist. I actually met a catholic priest on an Indian Reservation who was friends with the priest featured in the book. It was all loosely based on a true story. (see my thread on Personal Evil for more info ;) )

Stigmata was also good - thought provoking.

Would the movie "Seven" count? It blew my mind, but was well done

The Ninth Gate was a terrible letdown. I mean, it had such great potential, and then all I get for an ending was that guy walking into a big bright light? Absolutely awful. Now Stigmata I really liked, though I know quite a few who didn't. Lost Souls was another letdown...seemed more like an Excorcist rip-off to me really.

The Ninth Gate is even better than Stigmata! Almost no special effects are used, and the story plot is so catching! And what other end would you suggest?

I'm going to have to agree with crawl on this one... The Ninth Gate had a great build-up, and then flopped on the ending.

Hmm, can't think of any good occult movies, odd, because I've seen a ton of them...
I can name some bad ones though:

Equinox (bad in a good way ;) )
Devil's Rain (with William Shatner and John Travolta haha)
    Race the Devil
and possibly the worst movie ever made - End of Days!

Anyone see "The Prophecy" with Christopher Walken? I heard it was pretty good.

Well, actually, I heard it was pretty messed up, which amounts to the same thing.

Ahhh.....these are the movies i love!!!!
Well, some good titles to add to the ones mentioned above IMO:
    -Rosemary's baby
-Omen (...the one about the child named Damien...)
    -Lost souls (with wynona rider..)

The profecy is good but nothing special. The first two i mentioned are must have IMO!!!

More to come when they'll come to mind.. :p
