I adore the Baldur's Gate and IWD series.(Although IWD2 was a let down.)
I was just wondering is NWN really worth buying??
I'm getting a new computer and consering buying this game. Should I get it or wait for whenever NWN2 comes out.

I'd recommend it, especially if you want to play online multiplayer. I thoroughly enjoyed the single player campaigns, but a lot of people did not.

I have never heard of anyone who has ccomplained about the multiplayer options, however. There are so many choices out there that you should be able to find something that suits your play-style. If you have a group of friends who also have the game, you can play with just them in multiplayer and play any way that you like.

Also, there's the toolset that lets you build your own modules and if you like that, it can be a great way to spend many, many hours. A simple module can be created in a short amount of time and with some of the community tools, even creating scripted events can be (mostly) painless.

I've been playing since the game came out (I still don't get enough sleep at night because of this game :D ) and it's much cheaper now if you get the Platinum edition.

P.S. - NWN2 is still something like 2 years out. And that is not taking into account any delays in the schedule, but that never happens, right??? ;) :p

As pointed out NWN2 is not out for a long time, and secondly, it will be kind of different from nwn. Nwn was more heavily axed on multiplayer and custom modules than nwn2 will be according to the news they are spreading.

Gah! The board ate up my post! *grumble*

    Here's a truncated version:

Don't expect much from the single-player campaign. It is boring, monotonous and tiresome. Don't expect another experience like BG or IWD. You'll just be horribly disappointed. Do however, get the game if you plan to play online on multiplayer since I've heard people singing praises about it.

    Of course, it's all IMHO.

Indeed. I actually found the OC and SoU expansion campaigns rather enjoyable (I'll start on HotU before long).

The online aspect of the game is something worthy dying for (not literally of course...). You can find everything from a hack'n'slash to hard core Roleplaying games which are the closest things to Pen'n'paper you can get with a computer.

I actually have to disagree. I find openrpg sessions to be closer to pnp than nwn. Just my personal opinion though :)
