[IMG] I've finally got my finger out and booked a trip accross the pond. First time in the US for the horned crusader.

Visiting my cousin, who seems to have got herself stuck there, for a long weekend.

For any of you who've been and or live there, what should I prioritise. What are the musts and what are the leave'em alones?

    Anyone for a beer? ;)

[IMG] I live close enough to New York that I've been there several times, there are tons of great things to do...Here are a few of my suggestions:

Go to the top of the Empire State Building - it's a great view, and a must see now that you can't go to the observation deck of the World Trade Center.

Visit Liberty Island - The Statue of Liberty is a beautiful thing to see up close! Only go into her if the line isn't too long. You can't see much at all from the inside.

Ride a carriage through Central Park

    See a Broadway Show

    Ice skate in Rockefeller Center

Get accosted by by homeless people in Times' Square

Have an ale or five at McSorley's Brewhouse - There are only two things to order: Light or Dark

    Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge

Have a hot pastrami on rye sandwich at Katz's deli in the East Village.

Go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Or take a look at this website for more ideas:

Enjoy yourself! NYC is a blast!!!

Have great time! Aren't you the lucky one!

Just walk around and soak it all in.
    Stay out after hours...
Find a jazz club- the Blue Note
Go down to the garment district and buy great clothes incredibly cheap,
definitely ride a horse drawn carriage thru Central Park,
Check out the Guggenheim museum, its very funky
    the Met is always great

I would find myself drawn towards ground zero...

Go out and eat some exotic food you never had before, and check out the babes (foreigners are always babes, aren't they?)

Great stuff. Did most of the above, thanks guys.

Sir Bell, Did you finish you Pasterami on Rye at Katz's? BOY are they huge!

Just to add a little eatery to try: The Bistro Burger in the Corner Bistro on 4th St in Grenwich Village is special.

Had a great time overall - Although try to sort out the time differences! Watching football at nine in the morning at Nevada Smith's was a surreal experience. Felt like the World Cup was here again.
