I'm not clicking on that link. The new virus can be disguised as a .html file, while it is a .exe file. It is even activated if you have the preview option on your mail reading program on.

Apparently this worm uses known exploits that already have patches for them. So, if you keep your configuration up to date and install the recommended patches when they are distributed by Microsoft, you should have no problems.

    * Sigh * I hate hackers, especially the kind of ones you see in hokey sci-fi computer films... ;) I always invision people who create viruses or do illegal things with computers as bleached, spiky haired, nose pierced, pink spandex wearing freaks now... sorry this was so off the subject, just couldn't hold back....

Just found out that the policy where my father works regarding virii is that if you open such an attachment you risk getting fired. Maybe the world would have less trouble with virii if more companies adopted this policy? :p

[IMG] Definitely. If I were in an executive position I would enforce that rule without mercy. I mean, what kind of moron STILL opens attachments like that after so much publicity these trojans have gotten in the last few years?! And all of them operate on the same principle - get a person dumb enough to open something before looking at it or checking its source. You should treat every e-mail as suspect and trust nothing, not the other way around.

Sure, accidents do happen, especially in companies where people's work is to check hundreds of mails daily and overlooking something like that can happen. But not where people get a normal amount of mail daily.

[IMG] I only open mails sent by friends. It's safest that way...

Unless your friend is infected. You need to be suspicious of anything you receive, especially with a nice, generic covering note.
