Patch 1.67 is going to expand the colour palette, resulting in increased quality of textures. Here's a snip:

Check out the New Colors for PLT palettes in NWN patch 1.67 (beta2)

A while back Gareth Davies (NexusJnr) figured out that it was fairly easy to expand the PLT palettes in the toolset. He and I both worked on some new colors for DLA hoping to use them in our mod and perhaps get BioWare to become interested in them.

Last fall, we at DLA, were talking about some stuff with some members of the Live Team, Owen B. and Brian C., and I mentioned the expanded custom palettes we'd worked on. Owen ran with Gareth’s info and even improved on it :) On a off chance one day I asked Brian to ask Craig W. if we might also dare to hope to use the new palettes in the PC character creation in game and before I could hardly ask again, they made it happen.

This is one of the biggest "Yay! New eyecandy!"-changes in 1.67. The original colours were awful, and some people have been using custom palettes for a while now. These custom ones will be broken with 1.67 however.
