Well, after about 4 years, Metallica has released their newest CD. So today at around 12:00am I picked up their new CD, "St. Anger" at a party the local radio station was having at Greywhale CD. Honestly, it's not what I expected. They have gone back to the "speed/thrash metal" that was evident in their earlier albums...I'm not against their earlier stuff, I just prefer anything newer than "Load".

The new CD comes with a DVD which contains footage of the CD being recorded...haven't watched it yet since I don't have a DVD player.

Any hardcore Metallica fans out there that also have the new CD please let me know what you think about it. :rolling:

I gave up on Metallica long ago.

But, I plan to download the music off Kazaa just to spite them! :)

:wail:  No Graywhales in Texas. One of the great things I miss about Utah. :wail: Waaaah!

I hope they really have gone back to their roots. I was a die-hard 'Metallicat' from back when 'And Justice for All' came out in like '88. My fan-dome was downright obsessive - and proud of it! But I'd lost interest in them after the whole Napster hypocracy (damn you, Lars!! ) and the softening of their sound. I didn't hate their newer stuff per se, I just thought it was a huge step backward for them (early fans should know exactly what I'm talking about). I never really connected with them again like I did with their middle era. But I truly do hope they're getting back to what they do best - kickin' ass.

Aaaah, now I can finally quit pacing around my living room listening to "fade to black" and staring hungrily at my St Anger reserve card and actually go and get it - I am hitting Hastings on the way home from work today, that is for sure!!

    Metal up your a**

I was in a music shop just yesterday to check if they had the new album, but they didn't. I then bought an Ozzy CD instead. Just as I was leaving the shop a man walked in with a large box full of St. Anger CD:s, and having spent most my money on the Ozzy CD I couldn't buy it!

This album blew my teeth out - all I can say is that this is an AWESOME album (no matter what the rest of the MetallicA detractors out there will say).

Another heavy hitting contribution that pushes the limits of where fans think a band will go, and does it well.

    I love this album.

@Frostmage: if you were just leaving the store, why not just return the Ozzy CD and get St. Anger? :rolling:

I tried, but the shopkeeper refused. Bastard.
Now I have to wait until next week before I can afford it.

Yes, yes. *Makes shooing noises* Go back to your Slipknot, Linkin park, etc.

Saint Anger. Great name. Hopefully the album will be great as well. I was rather disillusioned by Load & Reload and slightly dissapointed by S&M. Garage Inc. was awesome but the songs are not all theirs.

From one of their live CDs: Fu*k you! BREADFAN! *heavy guitar riffing commences*

Lmao!!!! Is it bad band day or what? I like Metallica, but Saint. Anger just sounds stupid to me, it’s so blunt and non artistic. Off topic: Linkin Park is terrible, singing about teen angst all the time and they have a whiney ass lead singer...

I bought it, but haven't listened to it yet. It came out on the 9th here, and me and my brother ran out and got it the second it was released. Unfortunately, he took it to a party that night and he hasn't come home yet. I'll see him tonight, so I can listen to it then.

Load, Reload and Garage Inc. were far worse than their early stuff. All of the albums they made when Cliff Burton was alive + And Justice For All were the best. It was downhill from there. Its good to see that they have reformed finally. St. Anger the single rocks.
