    [IMG] Hi there,
After finishing ToB for the very first time a while ago, i attempted to re-start the series (BG1, BG2:SoA and BG2:ToB). But failed, i got tired of it and stopped. Now i want to re-kindle my enthusiasm for the game. I want to start a new game in BG1, with a Character, take him/her through the whole series, importing as i go along. There are a couple of factors here:

    • The Solaufein Mod and the Kelsey Mod will be used to have an equal number of Romancable NPC's in the game. I will use all the Smarter Creatures improvements.
    • The PC can either be Male or Female, and any alignment. Although i prefer to play Chaotic.
    • The game will be heavily Roleplay Oriented. Therefore i would not like to play Lawful classes (monks, paladins). I would not advice mixing NPC alignments.
    • Because its very In Character, i would like to have some degree of Consistency throughout the game. If i have Imoen with me in BG1, then realistically i should keep her through BG2. Stuff like that. Keeping friends from the past. Like Edwin (he promised to serve the PC for a year back in BG1)
    • SK may NOT be used apart from role-play styled changes. Like changing Class/Race restrictions. Half-Orcs should be able to be sorcerers instead of Clerics and Mage's for example maybe.

Summary: Please advice me on what Race, Class, Kit (chosen in BG2) and Alignment i should choose. Tell me what NPC's i should pull along sometime (that's IF i meet them in-game), and other things.
I really need some help to choose this because i can't seem to be able to stick with a character. Remember...heavy playing 'In Character', so if i have low INT, i may not enjoy having a Wizard in the party - stuff like that.

    Thanks a lot people!
    :)

Edwin, Imoen, Jaheira, and Minsc as a role-player's selections.

(Of course, it seems that Edwin is on hiatus from the 1 year contract at the beginning of SOA.)

Finally, the CG fighter-mage Soulafin to add more punch to the party (or no one else for a slight increase in challenge).

OK, be a male Chaotic Good Fighter or Mage.

Minsc is chaotic, keep him in the party thoughout both BG1 and BG2.

Likewise with Imoen. You can use ShadowKeeper to keep her as a pure thief for the sake of roleplaying (of course unless you dualled her in BG1).

In BG2, take Jan. Then add Kelsey. OK, now you have a five-member party. You can either add Solaufein, or Sarevok. Remember that {spoilers!} you can turn Sarevok to the side of Good in ToB.

I wouldn't use any of the the BG1 characters except Imoen in BG2 so I'd avoid Jaheira/Khalid, Minsc/Dynahier, and Edwin in BG1.

Use SK to keep Imoen a thief and keep her old pic in BG2... (If you're really good you can give her her old voice set back too. :))...her transition to Mage just never made sense to me...

Before I can make a recommendation on what character you should play, a question: Will you choose a kit once you reach BG2?

Yeah, a kit will be chosen when I import my Character into BG2:SoA. Remember to keep in mind all the Tomes and the Stat-Upping things in the games.

Definetely a Kit, althought it depends in the Class.

You have suggested no lawful classes but I'll just tell you my opinion. I have recently started a new game with a pallie. I have never played them before and I didn't like them (you know that I hate that goodie-goodie image they have) I've chosen a true class (no kits) and i found them quite surprising. I mean sometimes is fun to roleplay as good.

However I would suggest an elven Mage and upon importing in BG2 choose the Wild Mage kit. Clerics are also a lot of fun (well quite overpowered with 3 Tomes for Wisdom, but whatever). Or why not a chaotic evil thief and upon importing to BG2 make him an Assasin. Preferably elf (can't imagine a halfling assasin

Oops. I should learn to read. :)

Anyway... a cleric would be nice, and rather overpowered if you were to start him off as a fighter for a few levels. Grandmastery + Draw Upon Holy Might + Righteous Magic = w00t.

Assassins aren't really that good. Although they do have the nice x7 damage, a swashbuckler with assassinate ability would be more effective, especially with 3 in dual wield, weapon specialisation, and 25 thieving points per level to the assassins paltry 15.

As for my recommendation... I'm still thinking. :)

If you really have to ask other people what you should do, perhaps you should close your eyes and pick a random race/class/alignment/whatever.

Be a Chaotic Neutral Monk - A Mad Monk!

Entertaining and powerful, imagine, someone sees a monk and thinks how wize he would be and asks for advice, the monk replies something stupid like 'Don't eat spaghetti with a lampost!' and cartweels away.

A race would be Half-Elf me thinks

Haer'Dalis, Sulafein, Jan, Minsc and Imoen, the classic Oddsquad

BTW This is me just mucking around but I have actually played with this group and was aurprised how well I did, especially in character!

[IMG] Hmm... IIRC monk's can only be lawful :p;)
But SK is already available, but i fear playing a Chaotic monk would be very Ooc.
I'm thinking of a Ranger, but i always end up playing rangers! It get's boring after a while...
    *sigh*
How about playing a CN party!:hmm:
Haer'Dalis, Jan, Solaufein and Me (i'll be a fighter of some kind), then i can play either good or evil and doesn't really matter what choices i make... kinda makes it easy don't you think?
And minsc, who really does deserve to be Chaotic Neutral!

I've been thinkin of bard's. But I've played them before, and i always seem to go for Blades, and Haer'Dalis is already there!
    Any opinions on Kensai/Clerics?

Hmm.. I think that a kensai/cleric would be bit dodgy. Kensai means Sword Saint, whilst cleric can't use bladed weapons. I know you can use other weapons, but it doesn't seem right to me in a roleplaying sense. :)

[IMG] Well, Kensai/Cleric isn't such a good choice from a roleplaying prespective (your sword saint cannot use swords). Quite odd, don't you find ;)

On the other hand, a CN mage (not specialist) transformed to Wild Mage upon importing is a excellent rolerplay choice IMO.

    @8people
I think only humans can be Monks. And there aren't any Monks in BG1

Right... I've been thinking in the Wild Mage area, but i'm more of a Sorcerer kinda guy, how about a Wild Sorcerer? (A sorcerer with Nahal's, Wild Magic and Chaos Shields) Because that would definetely fit in Role-playing-wise...
Sorcerer Magic being untamed and all that..:hmm::holy:

I've also been thinking of an All-Race themed party, much like The Sneaking Four posted by Ragusa. A party with a distinct theme (all mage spells, all thieves etc), all one race?

Any more ideas on Party members? Or way of getting through the game?

[IMG] The Sneaking Four is Ragusa's all Halfling Party, in which every character has a Thief Class. Very good. Here it is: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005199.html

So has anyone got any ideas on this? Whether
that would be a good idea or not? Serious
posts only please (according to my first
    post above).
