Go for the wild mage since it is something new. But if you want to talk about the wild mage, better go to the ToB forum. ToB and SoA are being kept seperate for those who haven't bought ToB yet.

It depends on whether you prefer playing a fighter or spellcasting type, really. Personally, I think Inquisitor is the best Paladin kit, and would go with Sorcerer rather than Wildmage.... Though I agree that if you want something new and interesting (or at least, new), try the Wildmage.

The wild mage has several advantages: He has bonus spell on every levels, and still he can use every magc schools. Sofe of the wild surges is very interesting, and you have a broader variety of roleplaying. So, try the wild mage!

I don't know about the rest of you but I don't have time to play through these games more than twice (maybe three time). Once single player and once with the aid of shadowkeeper. This is probably the reaon why I will never get to play a Druid or Bard or a Wild Mage for that matter.

[IMG] If you have played fighter classes more than wizards, go for Avalon, if the other way around go for Wildmage

[IMG] I agree with Lokke, the cavalier is perfect for ToB for his abilities (the inquisitor fans will say the same thing for their crappy char I fear), especially when you are used to play fighter classes.
If you like magic users and surprises: Go for the wild mage.

I always like playing abstract characters that you won't get a chance to use during the course of the game. Hardly a cavalier to be found in the game as an NPC and I suspect as much can be said for wild mages. I play a bard which is like the best of all worlds, except the clerical world. I would think that fighter types are easy enough to find... in fact there's Sarevok waiting for you right at the beginning of the game.... if you're thinking about a wild mage then go for it... sounds like you've already done the cavalier thing anyway, and if it's tanks you need, well like i say, you can always find those types right? Go for the challenge of playing a low thaco'd low hit points, un armoured, freaky spellcaster and let us know what happens to your wild spells!
