    I have an idear.

On my next run-through, I'm going to enable the cheat that allows a 6-person party, and crank the difficulty up to the max. Then I can pretend Baldur's Gate III has finally been released.

    Anyone done this yet?

(ps - anyone else finding the OC to be almost too easy?)

err, uh - tell me the cheat.

I don't have all that much free time for NWN-2, and the idea to try out a whole handful of PC's in parallel sounds intriguing to say the very least! Just think about the time saved! ;)

PS: And it rather sounds to me like Neverwinter Dale 2, considering the rules :shake:

    rs ga_party_limit(6)

Raises the amount of party members you may have at once to 6. Default is 3 in Act 1 and 4 in Acts 2 and 3.

I assume that if you type in a (5) you can increase the limit to just 5, which I think is plenty, actually.

At 6 people I would do:

    Me
    Neeshka
    Kelghar (as a Monk)
    Sand
    Elenee
    Grobnar

Ah, but that means you can still only have one player character?

uhm from what i heard from the bioware boards, you will hardly get more dialogs or influence by doing this, since the game is made in a way so the first to speak sillence other npc's. secondly even on the highest difficulty the balance will be completely ruines, so you will probably have it way to easy to be fun.

but please if you try it, tell us how it is :)

you don't need a 6 player party for the highest difficulty

the game is harder in the beginning and in the places where you fight alone (lorne is particularly difficult), but when you get the stoneskins, it goes down to easy again

Damage reduction generally makes it easy. Not every single fight and all, but most. In the end, you can have a paladin cast Shield Other on a spellcaster with Premonition (30/- dmg reduction or was it 30/adamantine) who already has something for AC and other protections. Think Elanee with Barkskin, Elephant Hide, Premonition, +5 gear (mithral full plate kind of stuff), plus Shield Other on her. And there's always Bear's Endurance and Cat's Grace for whom useful. You can really keep the weaklings going.

the most game breaking thing from my perspective ,is almost a complete lack of resting restrictions

you can rest everywhere = you can buff everywhere = you mow down the opposition everywhere

furthermore, few enemies actually use dispellings, and even if they do, it only takes out 1 buff

on core and lower, enemies rarely even do enough damage to bypass the stronger stoneskins, so most of the time, you aren't taking damage at all

That's why I don't superbuff all the time, and limit myself to resting ONLY when my party's very worn down (i.e., one or more characters just died, few spell castings left, etc.). I typically only rest once per dungeon, 2 at the most.

You're right, the game is too easy if you super-buff all the time, which is why I don't. I'll do Stoneskin and a Bless spell on everybody, but that's about it. I personally feel that super-buffing your characters before every battle is cheating, because your enemies never do the same (and theoretically, some of them should at least know you're coming and prepare accordingly). If not cheating per se, it is pretty lame.

I tried the cheat - but I set it to 5 characters instead of 6 (which, I agree, would be overkill). This way I can have the party I want plus whichever character is required for a given quest. I've cranked the difficulty up to the max, and the game is nice and challenging. I still do well in fights, and always win, but it's no longer a cakewalk, even with the extra player. My personal favorite extra player is Grobnar. I've always considered Bards to be throw-away NPC's, but now I feel I can bring him along. I just let him hang back with Tasheron's Bow, singing his little midget ass off. His dialogues are generally pretty funny.

If I took along as the extra character another tank like Casavir or Qara as a second spellcaster, then I'd feel like I was cheating. But I don't.

i think my buffing routines stem from baldur's gate 2 and their chain contingencies

i always buff up to the max simply because i don't know what i'll encounter behind the next corner

of course, in nwn2, this kind of gameplay ends up being too easy, that's why i play on max difficulty

Too many weak monsters like Orcs and Duergar in the game make it really boring to play through. Especially for the first half of the game.

It doesn't get significantly easier either...

Atleast even though HOTU was very easy, the boss battles were fun. But in NWN2, even that is a cakewalk...
