Quote: Point was - what the original poster was looking for can be done - which seemed to be lost on some of you. Rather than say "you're right - your players can't play a vampire/succubus/werewolf - but Bioware never said they could" the point is - "you're wrong - yes they can, quit your complaining".

Actually, that's true. Jason Booth, one of our technical designers, has been futzing with his copy's resources for a while now and has been playing as a troll (an actual, selectable troll, mind you, and not an appearance change). How he does it, I don't know, though he says it wasn't easy. He isn't doing anything that any user couldn't, however. And as was said above, we've always maintained that hacking resources like .2da's is something we wouldn't support. We always said that, unlike adding models and tilesets and sounds and such, that playing with the resources was something that you were completely on your own with. We did leave the format open, however. There is lots of custom content that can and are added. We said during development that adding custom content would probably never be easy, in most cases, but that we would do our best to make this easier. The effort on this front is coming mostly post-release... so be angry at the delay, if you will, but it is happening. Some types of hacking are simply not supported, however, and never will be.

Custom Classes: You will never see an official tutorial for adding classes, prestige classes, spells, feats and skills... I can pretty much guarantee that. If you want to play with those things, that's up to you... but as this is a create-your-own-D&D-FR-module system and not a create-your-own-RPG system, we can't do that. There are plans to put out our 3dsmax tools very soon... and once that's done, we will likely be creating official tutorials for adding models (creatures, placeables, PC parts, etc.) I believe that voice set tutorials are also planned for the future. Incidentally, one thing that is planned for the 1.24 patch that might be of interest: the original method for adding music into the game was to drop the .bmu into a hak and it would get added automatically to your available list in the toolset. That method is being completed in the patch... no editing of the ambientmusic.2da required, just convert your .mp3 into a .bmu and load it into your hak pak. Just thought that tidbit might be of interest to some.
