A very interesting conclusion, and maybe a valid one. The question that comes to my mind all the time is:

How much would you sacrifice to make a game more "rules compliant"?

Would you rather have a game be "no fun to play" but faithful to the book? If you take i.e. the LOTR movies, there are some people complaining about how it was not faithful to the books, but yet the movies seem to be a very successful (and enjoyable). What it all boils down to is that there are always sacrifices to make in order to open a product to a greater audience. This may enrage "hardcore fans" (and in NWNs case the so called rules lawyers), but it basically makes the product more enjoyable for a far greater audience and thus more profitable. Plus you can not have a real time game that is fun in an multiplayer environment multiplayer on top of a turn based system (dnd) without making sacrifices. But this horse has already been beaten to death a thousand times, hasn't it?

And finally about the DnD logo and DnD games...Remember Eye of the Beholder? How much of the dnd ruleset did it incorporate at its time? What about the new Pools of Radiance? Why comes that you expect 100% faithfullness to the rules if no computergame ever came even close to 75%. Do not get me wrong, I support the idea of having things in a box that are listed on the packaging and I certainly expect certain things from any product that has the DnD logo on its box ... but I never would suspect a computer product being a 1:1 copy of the original rulset, this would fail because of the sheer size of the ruleset alone.
