Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

Haks: You should not play with pre 1.30 haks in 1.30. Reason for that is that some 2das have columns added with information the game engine needs. Some 2das are save (i.e. doortypes), you just do not have the new content when using them, others (i.e. feats or spells) have the potential of crashing your game. As a releated note, if a hakpak has a modified nwscript.nss in it, it is guaranteed to break your game in any version

Effects: Effects (mostly beneficial) usually run out for themself when resting (i.e. light). If you change the type of an effect to EffectSupernaturalEffect(), they can stay permanent. Certain effects (diseases, level drain, etc) have special coding inside the game.

Nwscript.nss: Well, it turned out to be a bad thing when 1.30 was released with it's new scripting functions. But since 1.30 also brings the ability to create your won constants, you only need to copy your self created constants (the only reason why you were haking nwscript.nss) and copy them into an include file. On the other hand, you can also just use magic numbers (i.e. the row indices from polymorph.2da) in your code...In any case, if you are interested in future patch compatibility / reduction of work needed for an upgrade, you should not use this file in any hakpak...But I am sure CODI is aware of that :)
