Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    Playing with platinum

Aye, the 1.64 Beta 3 is available. But that has Nothing to do with the multiplayer version compatabilty problem I am addressing. Also, there is no beta patch for the Platinum Edition. If there was, there wouldn't be as much uproar as there is now.

I'm not expecting the source code for the patch. But like I said above, info on the current progress of the patch from the devs would be nice. Also, a 1.64 Beta Patch for versions 1.63 would greatly be appreciated.

I'm not meaning to bash harshly on Bioware or Atari, but they are handling this whole situation very baddly.
If you read through the posts Derek made during the last weeks, you will find the part that says "it is too time consuming to create a beta patch for version 1.63 and it would cause a delay in the release of 1.64". We also have posted information on just how time consuming creating a single patch is on this board in the past, in case you missed it, the time unit is 'several days'.

We can not do more than working on this situation, and face it, regardless how often a day we jump onto the forums to tell people "we are still working on it" there will always be someone who didn't read previous posts or any of the stickies on top of the forum and post complaints.

1.64 will be done when we are done with it. We will not rush it as this would cause more harm than benefit for everyone out there. I don't think there are plans for another beta (but the Live team could have plans and not told me), so I expect the next released thing to be "the real patch".

The whole 1.63/platinum issue is a somewhat stupid situation, but based on our previous experience, I don't think we expected platinum to appear on the shelves EARLIER than the date we got as release date. BioWare is the developer, not the publisher of NWN and as such we have no influence on shelfdates, distribution, localization, etc and are dependent on the information we get from the publisher for our scheduling.

    Hope that sheds some light.
