Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

Noob wants to play online. Any starting tips?
It depends on what style of game you wish to play. I think the best adventure for a person who is serious about roleplaying should look no further than Neverwinter Connections http://www.neverwinterconnections.com/

There are also a huge amount of persistent worlds that have excellent places to wander around, go on quests and interact with fellow players. Most do have some sort of .hak file where they have added special content that makes their world different. These .hak files need only be placed in the hak directory in your NWN folder. Sometimes people have packaged those .hak files into an .exe file that will automatically install all the files. There are some great into tutorials on how to get into this crazy multiplayer NWN

The bug with the party bar is still there
This bug was not fixed for the 1.64 patch. I believe Georg made a post based on a quick read of the internal build notes stating that it was fixed. Which is incorrect. In the build notes I stated that I did make a change to the way the party bar works, which "should" improve the behavior a bit, but doesn't fully fix the issue. Unfortunately this bug has turned out to be extremely difficult to fix (I know that seems dumb, but its the truth of the matter) and as such we may not see a fix for it for quite some time.

Neverwinter Nights 2 given to Obsidian

Obviously, Bioware is working on other projects. If these projects were not given to Obsidian they would not exist.

Obsidian has been handed all of the tools (I assume) that Bioware used to make these great games. That means that Obsidian doesn't have to stress too much over things like balance and bugs in the game engine - they can focus on making a great game. Bioware seems to have faith that these guys will indeed make a great game and they are loosely involved as well.

In regards to NWN2 - the heart of NWN has been user-created content. The official campaigns were somewhat entertaining for a while but I wouldn't lose any sleep over NWN2's OC. As long as NWN2 has the same options for the content creators, look forward to the upcoming hype and all that comes with an brand new and energized user-base.

After that, we'll all be ready to jump right into Dragon Age.
Uh, yeah... what Scyles said. :p

Seriously, though, Scyles has it exactly right. BioWare has two and a half projects announced so far (Jade Empire, Dragon Age, and the as-yet unannounced Super Rainman Project Corporal Lambda Phoenix 14-g Pre-Cambrian Dynamo) and all of them are using BioWare's own intellectual property. While doing the sequels for our very popular Neverwinter Nights and Knights of the Old Republic games would have been very cool, we would have had to put our other projects on hold. So, really, it's a resource thing. We can't work on a jillion projects at the same time. And while I haven't met anyone from Obsidian yet (hint hint, Ray and Greg), I have no doubt that they're a fantastic company with some very excellent people. I look forward to playing their games.

    BG to NWN
I think it was due to the ruleset changing from AD&D 2nd Edition to 3rd Edition that prevented us from including the importation feature. Keep in mind that Neverwinter Nights was in development while the Third Edition rules were being developed.
