    1.65 status?
And as an further update, we are making good progress, but at this time, the earliest we will have Beta 1 of 1.65 would be Monday, Nov. 22nd. And by earliest, I mean it could be later on in the week.

    More:
Is 1.65 intended merely as a bug fixer or will it also release some of the custom content that is currently locked up oh-so-tight?
For this update, as it intended to allow Mac and Linux users to play, we will only be adding the Stormy Skies Skybox to the resources, as we are still working out the overall release schedule.

Solution? - Live Connection Doesn't Work for Me

Well... you're assuming everything begins and ends with multiplayer. By Bioware's own admission, the large majority of players play the single game. What's to stop me from giving my buddy my copy of NWN? Let him install it with the CD-Key. Throw on the no-CD patch. As long as we both play a single player game, we can both play the premium modules to our hearts content with the current protection scheme. I'd imagine this is the more common form of "piracy" practiced by people rather than the download from the internet kind.
I wouldn't advise you doing that, the Masterserver may invalidate your key if it detects that it has been stolen.

    More:
You're not going to invalidate people who have multiple family members in the same household, who all wish to play kingmaker at the same time, correct?
You need one copy of Baldurs Gate for each computer running it at the same time. You need one copy of KotOR for each computer running it at the same time. You need one copy of NWN for each computer running it at the same time. You need one copy of HotU for each computer running it at the same time. You need one copy of Kingmaker for each computer running it at the same time. People with multiple family members who want to play *at the same time*, have to buy multiple copies. It has been that way for every single BioWare game released. Nothing "invalidated", nothing new with this Rich. You're free to oppose our distribution scheme, and your initial spam and flame campaign when the boards came online made that quite clear ... however, I don't think it's adding anything to the discussion here to pull random things out of your hat and complain about them, because in some cases, like this one, this tends to be pretty weak.

An Option: A unique identifier code
We have evaluated other options before deciding on the current one and we may evaluate them again if the store is successful. For now, the deployed offers working a low cost alternative to licensing or developing expensive other schemes that allows us to sell the modules at a very fair price. We are obviously not reaching the full potential of the market with this and we will be looking into ways of expanding the potential customerbase for the premium modules in the future. It's exciting times, Digital Content Delivery will continue to evolve and we will see how the market (or targeted parts of the market) reacts to it. Future full products may allow you to select between server authentification so you don't need to keep a disk in drive (and hasslefree create backup disks) or the traditional disk in drive method or all other sorts of neat advancements. It's interesting times indeed.

NWN Explorer CTD w/ New Premium Content Module Haks ?
The premium modules can't be opened in NWExplorer, sorry.

    1.64 patch

Will I be able to unistall Kingmaker if I go back to the 1.62 patch?
You should be able to uninstall Kingmaker at any time, simply go to the "Add or Remove programs" from your control panel, and select the "BioWare Premium Module: Neverwinter Nights - Kingmaker", click remove. (Or you can use the shortcut in the start menu, or you can go to the "premium" folder in your NWN directory, and run the "uninst Neverwinter Nights - Kingmaker.exe") If KM will work with anything below 1.64? The short answer is No. The long answer is: You may be able to see the "demo" portion of KM, which is just a quick movie, but not the full module.

    More:
You cannot play Kingmaker without 1.64.
or beyond... we're going to keep letting you play the modules with the 1.65 patch... :) (so you need 1.64+ to play the Premium Modules)

    I Can't Authenticate
For the record neither GameSpy Arcade nor GameSpy are required by the authentication system, this is purely a BioWare system. So you don't need to install GameSpy Arcade to authenticate. As for the question about re-installing HotU, you save games should still work, as long as you update to 1.64 after re-installing HotU. You may try running the Critical Rebuild instead of re-installing, but if you are on dial-up, that may take longer to download than a re-install and update... Hope that clarifies some issues.

Files To Keep For Part 2's?
Currently the Module un-installers do not remove the database files. Uninstalling the game will remove the database files if you select to remove additional files, but the modules do not remove the database files during the uninstall. (if that made sense)
