Here are today's Neverwinter Nights forum highlights, collected by NWVault. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    Multiplayer Pirates? Server?
Unfortunately, the Premium Modules do not work with dedicated servers. This is because the Premium Modules are based off of CD Keys and the dedicated servers do not have their own CD Key. There is no way to change this without a massive re-write of how the servers, clients, and Master Server interact for authentication, so there are no plans to do this at all.

Can we distribute the potsc_resources hak?

Now that is great news - I feared for a moment BioWare were out to make life difficult for those wanting to use the content. Of course, I should have known better. Silly me!
No, no intention to make things difficult. Since the primary purpose of the PotSC was a module for our customers to enjoy, that was our primary focus. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to Alt+Tab back to the Hak Pak Editor...

    More:
Derek, you are the man! I would happily buy you a beer as thanks if by some bizarre coincidence we happen to meet in a pub near Bioware in the not-to-distant future :)
If anything crazy like that ever happens, I will be sure to take you up on it.

    More:
Hmm. Does this mean most of the content won't appear in future patches, but will remain hak content instead?
Absolutely not. We are simply trying to make some items accessable early. The plan is always to integrate the resources in a future patch in some way.
Quote: Just thinking of building with the content now (or when you get done with the hak), and what problems might arise if it were patched directly into game assets.
Your Hak Pak will always override the main game resources, so there shouldn't be any issues. It is possible to remove the Hak once the resources are in the future update. Just requires some QA on the builder's part.

More: I am working without a net here, so we are going to do some dynamic Beta testing here. I have build a Hak Pak (hopefully) containing the resources required to get you access to some of the resources. My first attempt is to get the creatures going. Download this .zip and add it to your module with the "potsc_resources.hak" and reply here with your experiences. Click Here I expect this to take several attempts to get it working right.

More: The creatures will not show up in the Official creature pallette until they are released in an upcoming patch.

    More:
I noticed in the contents post that not all the armors included in it work on all the playable races.
Can you give me some more details here? If its something I can fix up, let me know and I will rebuild the master Hak.

    More:
No, since I haven't touched the hak yet... I'm talking about this quote.
    Armor Models - 122 (not all races have all models) 2 feet (213 and 214) 2 hands (209) 1 shin (218 and 219)

Ah, I see. At this time, we would have to devote some art resources at making the stuff work with all models, but we don't have any free right now, so you will have to work with exactly what we have in the Hak.

    Authenticating Game... Again???
Just to restate it for this page of the thread, with some clarification... The current authentication system leverages the existing NWN CD Key system. Doing it this way allowed us to create and sell the BioWare Premium Modules in a timely and cost-effective manner. Did we want to make this an on-line only system? No. Given the choice between doing it on-line only versus not doing it at all, we chose the on-line only system. As well, we have said that if this experiment is successful, that we would look into a off-line system for those of you that do not have an internet connection or choose not to authenticate in this manner. This is still under active investigation. So, where are we now? Nothing has changed yet and we are still watching, but we should have a decision on an "off-line" mode sometime "soon"®

    More:
I'll tell you what bugs me about having to authenticate as I'm playing. It's none of Bioware's #$^*%$& business when or how I'm playing.
We track absolutly no personal information about you or your playing, as per our Privacy Policy. We do not know "when or how" you are playing. It is the exact same system that we use for NWN multiplayer.
Quote: But once I pay for it, and if I don't want to play on line, then I shouldn't have to authenticate at all.
Fair enough, and as I keep saying on every page of this thread, we are still actively looking into an off-line method for those that want it.
Quote: You're just asking for someone to hack it post it for real piracy.
Sorry, but I don't buy that statement. Noone is being forced to purchase these modules.
Quote: The 'you'll never even notice' isn't the point. Privacy is. I bought it, I'm a registered user, that should be the end.
Again, we track absolutly no personal information about you or your playing, as per our Privacy Policy. We do not know "when or how" you are playing. It is the exact same system that we use for NWN multiplayer.

    Neverwinter Adamantium Edition
Just to call it out. There are no plans to do any of this.

I was then quickly killed in a street battle. :)
That happened to me while I was testing it. I found that leveling up to the recommended minimum of level 5 or 6 really helped out. ;)

    PotSC = Great
    *** SPOILERS****
Once I got out of the first section, things got much more reasonable, and I've been having a lot of fun. Spellcasters may have a bit more trouble, since there are some resting-restricted areas that you must solo through.
Indeed, I would have recommended single-classing through the first part. Spellcasters can rest in the belowdecks of the midnight Rose. It was a time-consuming thing for me, but at least I didn't die too often that way.
