08 Feb 2006 - Writing Contest Voting Continues
Sorry for the confusion on editing after submission. You are allowed to edit after submission but be aware that either the public or judges may have already played and reviewed your module and thus your edits might miss some people.

    Other issues raised here:

    1. I would recommend that when you review a module you review it based on how much you enjoyed playing it and how you liked the story and characters. The bottom line is we want what writers you like. Yes we included a lot of parameters to follow but it was all in an effort to make it easier to review the writing. Keep focused on the writing for your reviews.

    2. If a module is reasonably within the parameters and gets into the top eight it will be looked out by BioWare staff. Again the whole contest is about making it easier for the staff here to review community selected modules of merit. It would be shame to cut a module out because they had more words or had small combat or something outside of the parameters.

    3. De writin' man, is all about de writin'.

The Animation Lab v1.10 is out!
This is a nice script package. Very cool idea.

Very large module corrupting with importing of erfs (server memory corrupts then crashes) repeatable

Anybody know what this limit will be in NWN2?
You would have to ask the developers, but I think it is reasonable to assume for any game that if you start venturing too far out of it's original scope (i.e. 1000 areas instead of 50 per module), you will run into issues.

    1.68 Wishlist - Review
I wouldn't be opposed to a moderator (let's say Lilac) amending this list with any new, reasonable suggestions coming up. It's fairly easy to browse through in the current format.

Obviously, and I can't stress that enough, we can never give you a promise that any of these suggestions would end up in any possible future patch.

I know Craig and other people on the Live Team read through this kind of threads and every once in a while something gets implemented from them - in fact there are a couple more things that have been requested over and over again, just like SetName, that are already on the "quite possibly we will add this to a future patch" list - BUT things are seldom as simple and harmless as they look from the outside, so please do not get overly excited about any particular thing mentioned in this thread.

We've learned a lot in terms of managing expectations over the last couple of years with NWN, so please understand that we will avoid giving any detailed feedback on suggestions in this thread, unless we are outright sure something will be in a future or current patch or is totally not going to happen (and even there our own trackrecord makes it pretty obvious that definitive statements "No SetName, Ever. No Robes, Ever. No <censored>, Ever." tend to come back to haunt you a couple of years later.

If there is one thing to learn about video games, it is that you can NEVER EVER be certain about a games / patches features until the product / patch ships.

    Universal Binary?
From the testing I've done with my new iMac (intel, at home), NWN does work. It's not as snappy as it could be, but it does work.

As for making Universal Binaries, we're looking into it, but no promises.

    Diamond on Mac
I'm not encouraging it, but the diamond files are mostly zips, and you should be able to extract them to your NWN folder. Just install the 1.66 (or 1.67) patch, and it should all work. You'll have to enter your new CD Keys in the game, or put them in the cdkey.ini file first, but otherwise it should work. (theoretically) (and I haven't done it myself) (so no guarenties) (enough brackets already!)

    Oi, her head's all fat!
It would depend on which package you got the head from, as you'd need to use NWExplorer and point to the data/xp2patch.bif and, hopefully you're patched up to 1.66, so you can get the correct female heads with the fixed pivots, courtesy of Lisa.

More: Yes, NWN Viewer is old and doesn't support the expansions or patches I believe. You'd want to use the modified NWN Explorer from roboius available here.
