GameSpy has ranked Neverwinter Nights 2 with the most wanted games of 2006 at the 11th place. Here's a snip:

Back in my day, we played Dungeons & Dragons with dice! On a kitchen table! With paper and pencils! And we ... sorta liked it. To be fair, nothing compares to a face-to-face roleplaying experience, but getting your friends together, memorizing the rules, resolving combat, and handling all the paperwork sometimes makes you long for a faster, more visceral experience where a computer does all the legwork. That was the impetus behind the original Neverwinter Nights, released in the summer of 2002. BioWare's ode to roleplaying met with critical acclaim, even if the multiplayer DM tools weren't as robust as some people had hoped.

It's been four long years, and the original game continues to be relevant. BioWare is selling mini-expansion packs from its website for download, and the user community continues to crank out content. But Neverwinter is looking a little long in the tooth. Enter Neverwinter Nights 2, a whole new animal, under development by the roleplaying gods at Obsidian.
