    Comp Req
Okay okay!!Here's the "official" deal.Yes the game requires DX9.0c to be installed. It also requires a game that supports shader model 2.0 in hardware. No 2.0...no run. It's as simple as that. :) With that being said, ATI cards run the game just fine. ATI drivers do have some issues supporting certain components of DX9.0. While that is technically "their" problem...it's really "our" problem as developers. The burden is on us to find work arounds for those features that are not supported on ANY card...even when they are technically "supposed" to be.With THAT being said, at the moment the game looks identical on all hardware that we run on and that includes various ATI Radeon cards (mostly 9800s and some X800s) and a variety of NVidia cards (5900s up to 7800s).However, performance is another issue. While you can technically run the game with all of the optional graphics features turned on and maxed out, on some of the lower end 2.0 cards (9800s, 5900s) performance will degrade...as expected. But that's why they are "options".So, for all the ATI peeps out there, rest assured that the game will run just fine on those cards. ;)

    More:
Well I hope it was worth it for me to upgrade from a 5900SE to a 6800GT. I wonder how much better it will run on the new card.
Oh, I'll guarentee it will run a LOT better. That was a good move. 5900SE is a pile. ;) I know this, because I also have one at home.

    More:
So Pixar Shading 2.0 is required. What I wonder is will there be any visual improvement with Shading 3.0? (other than the obvious speed increase)As an aside, it seems reasonable to expect peeps to hve shading 2.0 by summer 2006.
It's "pixel" not "Pixar". :pAnyway to answer the question...yes. There will likely be some graphics features that will only be supported if you have a 3.0 card. Things like true HDR come to mind. And before the ATI peeps start complaining that true HDR is doable on today's 2.0 ATI cards...I already know this. But unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it) we're writing more than just a true HDR demo here. So, the realistic feasibility and performance ramifications of implementing true HDR on any of the 2.0 cards (including ATIs) is that it's not going to happen.

    Blurriness
It's mostly a design/art thing.Too little bloom and you probably won't even notice it.Just the right amount of bloom can add a very pleasant realisic effect where certain things are softened by sunlight. Harsh edges that are common in computer games can be softened to look more realistic.Too much bloom however is like walking around with a nylon stocking on your head. Everything is fuzzy and washed out.Not that I have EVER walked around with a stocking on my head.>_><_<anyway...I think the VAST majority of people will be very happy with the level of bloom we have in our game.
