Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault from Obsidian Forums. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    Backward Compatibility
Everything relating to the graphics, collision detection, and just about every 'low-level' aspect of Aurora is being redone in 'Electron' (working title) at the moment. This makes it almost impossible to convert old modules to new ones as the way object are placed, rendered, and move around the world is 100% new.

We did talk to several mod makers, as well as polling our own designers and decided that MOST of the mod effort seems focuses on scripting and dialog--so we get the most bang for the buck trying to maintain compatibility of those two aspects of the engine. We will be striving for this. However, there's no real way to convert tile_005 to whatever we decide we want and assure the outcome is what anyone desires--so we probably won't import area layouts or creature placement, etc.

    Character Face Generator

I'm not so bothered about having custom bone structure - like nose and cheekbones and stuff. I can recognise how hard it would be to create fully morphable faces. But I think that being able to select hairstyles independent of the head would be a huge bonus. Also, I can't see how small things liek eyecolour could be much of a challenge.
This should be do-able. We have a scheme in place that would theoretically support this.

    Mirror Image

We did this in DA2, should be no reason we can't pull it off in NWN2 other than time =) It's technically possible within the constraints of the engine (or at least, not too much trouble to change those constraints)
It was not a player spell. Ysuran's former master casts it in the clocktower upgrade quest =)

    Ferret, Developer

    Exit Combat
Our current plan with NWN2's single-player campaign is that there would be no quick way to exit combat akin to the Stone of Recall from NWN1. So be happy or sad depending on your feelings about that feature.
