Papermonk, I bet you my lunch money can set the building's Z-cords to lower them into the ground just enough to hide the curbs if you don't like them. If so, this will really add to the functionality of the models. The same building can look rural and rustic without a curb or fancy like them thar big city fellas with curbs.
The curbs are not attached to the buildings -- so if you don't want curbs, then don't use them. It's that easy! :D

One small observation. I notice in some of the city shots, a lot of the buildings are the same. Are we dealin' with a limited number of placeables here as far as buildings is concerned or was this just somethin' you guys threw together to show off other aspects of the scenery?
I was wondering the same thing. Are they set styles or pieces that you link together to form the building.
The buildings in those shots are a pretty small subset of what's available in terms of overall building selection.

Art/Graphics: What we know so far...

If there are performance concerns, please make it a slider in options so those of us with faster machines can set it out further.
Sorry...no can do on that one. People can cheat that way. Anyway, bear in mind that all of the screen shots are taken at various times of day. Some levels are not finished either. The fog definitely comes and goes during different times of day on certain levels.

Well, I hope you guys are happy. #3 is my favorite. Enjoy! ;) Edit: I'd also highly recommend viewing the high-rez versions if you can. They are 4 times the resolution and you can see a good bit more detail.

The "plasma screen" is a painting with a tint map on the frame. The tint map hasn't been set, so it looks... weird.

Excuse me, lizardfolk. Lizardwomen also play an important role in the herstory of Faerűn.

Anybody notice the bard is missin'?
The bard and warlock were disabled for our focus test. The bard songs don't have music and their playing animations use a different (unimplemented) logic system from the other casting animations. Warlocks are also missing from the list because their quick cast menu isn't finished yet.

    More:
WOW!! Bards won't be using the casting animations, at least for Bard songs...

What about their spells, will they emulate some sort of performance animation (playing, orating, etc) or will they use similar animations for their spells as do the other arcane casters?
When a bard casts a "real" spell, they will play a normal spellcasting animation. When a bard starts a bard song, the game will look for the first instrument in their inventory and play an appropriate "conjure", "conjureloop", and "cast" animation for that instrument. If no instrument is found, it defaults to a singing animation.

Everyone here at Obsidian is super happy that some of these screens are now out. All of the engine programmers (Frank, Brian, and Adam the 'A-Bomb') have all done great work re-writing the renderer.

The artists and techincal artists (Tim Donley, T-Ray, Dennis, Ed, Terrence, Scottie, and many more) have done a great job with creating the art and designing the levels.

This is a small example of what we have been dying to show you guys for months now. Enjoy! There will be more after E3.

A lot of the GUI is still being polished. As a matter of fact I just dropped a ton of polish into it last Friday.

We have more character polish options coming too.

Edit: your starting outfit is determined by your class. The outfits shown in the demo are still placeholders. The new outfits look super dope.

    More:
The videos were really dark though so it wasn't 100% as clear as I'd like.
Those videos weren't recorded with FRAPs or anything like that I don't think. I'm pretty sure they just pointed the camera at the screen and things look darker because the room was dark. Things aren't that dark in the game.
