Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault from Obsidian Forums. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

How I wish they would drop pnp ruleset for nwn2
Like it or lump it, NWN2 is still going to be based on pen and paper rules.

    Ferret Baudoin, Lead Designer

Why don't writers get any love?
We definitely keep track of the number of words that are in our games. Every word has to be translated into many other languages plus too many words equals potentially bored players. Does anybody know the average number of words in a novel? At one point when writing on KotOR2, I was curious whether each of the core designers had written the equivalent of a novel. I never could find a satisfactory answer about the word counts of typical novels.

    Multiple Starting Points
NWN2 is going to have one start location. In a lot of development you have to make choices between breadth or depth. Multiple start locations can be great, but it can limit how deep your story can get because the designers can't count on a consistent start to the story. By sticking with one start location and back story, those can be completely integrated into the plot and allow for deeper reactivity. Both methods have their pros and cons (and by my measure they are fairly evenly balanced), we chose the way we did because it works better for the particular story we want to tell.
