Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault from Obsidian Forums. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    File Format Information
    - We aren't using max scripts. It's still too early to be releasing any information on file formats right now... Which we plan on doing.

Any chance of a command line launcher?
NWN is not what I would call a narrow community. :shake: What would you get out of being able to do this? How were you planning on getting output from whatever program you would run back into the scripting language? FWIW, this is not something that is going to be added to the game (for precisely the reasons already mentioned), but I'm just trying to understand what it is you're actually trying to accomplish, because that's probably a far better discussion to be having than "being able to run executables will solve all my problems."

    More:
Quote: When I said narrow community, I meant in relation to the world as a whole. You'd have to get people to download your application and install it, which would only be developers, and at most you'd get a few people before the word got out... whereas if you know enough to do that, you could put a worm out there that hit hundreds of thousands of computers in a short span of time.
"A few" people is a phrase along the lines of "acceptable casualties." That's not really something that is acceptable...and besides, if this is made a supported option, then it's not just developers who would be using this -- it's likely that many more people would be using it, and exposing that number of people to untrusted code is scary, to say the least. So what you really want is database support. This is what I meant by getting down to what you really wanted to do... :D

    Pathfinding AI
To channel Brian "Toughpants" Lawson: Yes.

    Baldur's Gate
Heh. Am I the only person who abused the ability to summon creatures (aka cannon fodder) in BG? :good:

Casting Cats Grace on a Cat.
Save versus cat? OK, but only if there's a save versus Ferret. :good:

Will NWN 2 be backwards compatable with NWN mods?
I assure you that the changes we make are not simply for the sake of change itself. It will always be to support some new feature or to improve performance. Otherwise, its just a big waste of time... and we just dont have time to waste. ;)

    GUI Customizeable?

I would like to know if the Custom GUI will also include the GUI that was mentioned as the alternative to using null human listeners to get input from players. I brought his up on the Obsidian forums as well as the Dragonage forusm and both developers said they wanted to use a GUI instead. The reason I ask is because I have a radical follow up question on this and I need to see if this the appropriate thread for it.
I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Can you got into some more details? Sorry if this has been gone over before, but I haven't read anything about this. :)
