Here are today's Neverwinter Nights 2 forum highlights, collected by NWVault from Obsidian Forums. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    OC Priority #1: True Non-Linearity
True non-linearity and a deep story don't fit well together, if at all. The easiest way to tell a dramatic tale is via absolute linearity - like books. Most CRPGs live in the middleground with some non-linearity but a lot of "constants" so the writers have hooks for making their story impactful. NWN2 isn't shooting for that MMO open-ended feel. We're shooting for involving the player in an intriguing and engrossing fantasy tale.

    please create better expansions
All I'm going to say on this one is "one step at a time". Let us make a great OC - then we'll talk expansions. :)

nwn 2 cost per month subscription
How about this - it'll be no monthly fee for everyone, so hurrah. But if you really have your heart set on paying a monthly fee, I can send you a mailing address and a name to make the check out to. :good:<

    tips'n'tricks
Thanks for the useful feedback. This is a pet peeve of mine that I've seen in several games. It is a minor nuisance, but one that gamers are likely to notice if they aren't speed readers. I'll pester my fellow developers to see that this issue gets addressed.

    Conversations?
You can expect dialogue and cutscenes to be more cinematic in NWN2, similar to KotOR and KotOR2, but with some enhancements.

    World Design
Good question. NWN2 will have many open-ended areas to visit, explore, and revisit later, similar to Baldur's Gate. And like KotOR2, NWN2 will have many quests that can be solved in different ways depending upon your actions in the game, your companions, your character class, alignment, gender, etc. NWN2 will not be completely open-ended like Morrowind. We are keeping NWN2 just linear enough to tell a great story and have well-paced gameplay.

    A plea to the dev
Thanks for your feedback. Believe me, it is in our best interests to give you guys tools that are as complete and easy to understand as possible. Part of the reason for the longevity of the original NWN is the strength of the NWN Toolset. We're working on making the Toolset better than ever. If you have any suggestions or ideas for how the Toolset can be improved, please post your input in NWN2 Toolset Forum, as the devs responsible for the Toolset may not check the General Forum as frequently.
