    another height map question..

Almost certainly not, due to the way height maps work. At best, you'll get nearly vertical cliffs. No overhangs.
Right.. the heightmap will only get you "near vertical"... but that in combination with some big boulder-type placables can get you some very convincing cliffs, overhangs, etc...

ATTN: PW people RE: module sizes: Part IV

Do not underestimate the numbers please. I've created a module with something about 350 areas and I host it on a server which is currently now most popular in my country. I have 30 players around the clock, hundreds of player accounts in the servervault storing several thousands of characters. On the website I have 593 registered players now. Many of them never tried OC. They bought NWN1 just for online fun.

Most probably, all my players all going to be your customers.

If I won't be able to run a NWN2 server because of poor PW support and a lot of investments required to host it then I'll just tell them: "Don't spend your money on NWN2. It's not worth it."

Sorry Josh. Welcome to the real world.
Well over one million copies of the original NWN were purchased.

Also, this talk about abandoning multiplayer isn't quite accurate. From my perspective, there are three types of games people make using NWN: single-player offline, small group multiplayer (like a traditional D&D game), and PWs.

The only real case in which small module sizes are of great importance is for PWs. Sacrificing the ability to have organic, lifelike exteriors so PWs have an easier time with building huge modules isn't really worth it, in my opinion.

P.S.: For all of the "non-players" of the OC in NWN, there sure was a lot of heated debate about it.

    More:
Increasing the download size by as much as it seems, to me seems likely to cut down a large percentage of mod sharing and discourage quick and easy multiplayer even for small groups.
Again, it wasn't like the team set out to make module sizes large. They set out to make exteriors more flexible, organic, and visually appealing. The increased size is a consequence of that. Expecting visual quality and flexibility to grow without file size growing is... more than optimistic.

Quote: Im also not sure that the "It isnt used as much, therefore it mustnt affect sales"
I have never expressed this extreme opinion or (hopefully) even suggested it. What I have said is that sacrificing very obvious visual appeal and flexibility specifically for PW creators would not have been a wise trade-off. If we stuck with tileset exteriors using really basic placeables, many people would express disappointment over the blandness of our exteriors and how repetitive they looked.

Quote: Same with NWN1. According to Bioware, the majority of buyers never played multiplayer. I put the question to you, though, how well would NWN1 have sold if the box said it was single player only and made no mention of module creation or the DM client? They were strong selling points - despite most people never even using them.
Oh, I think it would not have attracted the buzz it did and it would have hurt sales. Then again, I don't think the making of PWs was ever something actively promoted in NWN advertising.

    More:
I'm sorry if you don't like my opinions, but I truly don't believe that you all did as much as you could have to keep the spirit of NWN alive. That spirit included multiplayers once upon a time.
I don't think "we" did either, but I also don't think that these limitations are going to kill NWN2 multiplayer or NWN2 PWs.

More: I talked to Frank a little more and he will be coming in sometime this weekend to explain these issues in more detail. I'm sorry I haven't been able to handle all of the specific technical questions you guys have asked.

Barbarian tribes/monastic orders/paladin orders are not supported in NWN2.
