Never before encountered error

    Hi guys and girls, longtime visitor, first time poster at SP. I dug up my IWD2 CDs after a buddy of mine discovered it. He boasted that he could beat it before me, and naturally I accepted his challenge, thinking I could do it no problem. However he's got a bit of a headstart on me, because after I installed the game, I received a very bizarre error when trying to play.

    An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 605
    Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data/Guifont.bif

    Any ideas? Obviously it's got something to do with the game font, but I'm not sure what.

    [​IMG] Had a similar error when I moved a directory and it was looking in the wrong place. Look in the icewind2.ini file to see where it's looking on the hard drive to see if it's picking up the right place :)

    Hi, I encountered this error installing IWD2 on the new computer with Windows 7. So, 9 years later, I will reply to this post in hopes that somewhere out there is someone who can assist!

    I tried changing the directory in icewind2.ini, but could not save, as I did not have permission to change the file. I login as adminstrator, and usually have full priveleges to config files. Please help!

    [​IMG] Either save the file to the desktop then drag it into the directory you need it in or select compatability files and edit the file in that folder instead.
