[IMG] I usually hate asking for help, but here goes:

I use WeiDU. However, because MsDOS doesn't work properly on my laptop, I sometimes have problems running it.

So I can't look at scripts for NPCs or anything.

I'd like to know if anyone can either link me to a tutorial, e-mail me an example or somehow tell me what to do.

first problem is: Familiars. I can't get them to work (along with most summoning spells) I want to make it so the NPC I'm making hasa pet who she keeps in her inv, like boo, but can summon likea familiar. I also presume Summoning spells use a simular script. So if someone could help me there.

second: Need to know a script fora romance, timers Increment globals, stuff like that. My attempts landed in failure and the undoing of one of my mods  any help here appreciated.

If you can't get WeiDU to run, then there isn't much we could do to help you.

Are you able to open a DOS prompt from the start menu in Windows? You don't need to restart the computer in MS-DOS mode.

Another idea! Try using the windows run command and go that way on working WeiDU. I never tried that myself, but it might work.

Try looking at the scripts with NI.

Here's a hint. Don't make your first NPC mod a romance. What you'd need to do is create a global of NPCMatch that checks to see if the player meets whatever the criteria is for the romance. If so, then you'd need to have the script set NPCMatch to true.

If NPCMatch is true, then a timer is set. LoveTalk is incremented to 2 whenever the timer is expired and you use the command Interact(Player1). Upon completion of the LoveTalk, then LoveTalk variable is set to 3. The even-odd combination must be used, otherwise it won't work.

Do a search here for more information.

[IMG] nah, my first NPC is going to be 'Frostys mod' which is simply a new NPC with items, a familiar, and perhaps a couple of dialogues with party members, and the dialogues where everyone is involved (like at the end of SoA, giving people the option to leave.)

The site will probably help a lot.

And I am thinking about installing BG2 on Esion (my big computer) where I know DOS works properly so WeiDU will. I just have to work out how small I can install BG2 now...

Minimal install is a few hundred megs (I know I was able to cram it and ToB onto a 1.5 GB drive).

If you need help coding dialogue, I am still willing to lend a hand.

[IMG] I'm actually quite good with dialogues, and I can use most of the stuff in other NPC dialogues, I've looked through enough of them to find what does what.

It's just the scripts. And now the memory.

    Thanks for all the help.

Many of the actions that you can execute from Dialogue files are the same as the scripting commands, so you probably already have a pretty good grasp.
