I didn't mind it... whether i felt this way because it was truely a good read or because it was preceeded by Elminster in Hell (*shivers*), well, you'll have to decide.

I have never read any of the Elminster books and
very few of Ed Greenwoods books and so I would like some detailed input.

Alrighty. Well, lets just say that Greenwood's books are a mixed bag. In terms of quality of writing, you can consider them pretty much average. In the past I’ve found them to be entertaining for the most part, even if his writing style adds a little frustration (it can get conviluted and overly complicated, then turn back to being an easy read... all within a page). I refer to El in Hell as his worst book to date. Imagine a chatroom where people continuously type in things like "*Cel hits Bassil with a trout*" and you can imagine a great deal of the book. El's daughter, however, is a break back to Greenwoods usual narrative. This return is a relief after reading El in Hell, so much of a relief that my opinion of El's daughter might actually be more positive than it could be if El in Hell had never been written.

Basically, to cut to the chase, I would recommend El's daughter. From what I recall the book kept my interest from start to finish. Its an entertaining read and you don't really have to know anything from Greenwood's other books to understand it-not to say that reading the others isn’t worthwhile, they'd grant you further insight into El's character.

[IMG] Thank you very much Celesialraven, that was most helpful. I am recovering from a head injury and light reading has been all I could handle. I am only now starting to read books again after 3 1/2
years. I still can't remember alot of what I read
but I still like to be entertained while I read.
your opinion is helpful and most appreciated :thumb:
