I have been hired (asked) to plan a really big party for someone. Part of this is planing the music that will be played. I want songs that people will want to get up and dance to. I'm talking about feel good songs, you just can't help but get up and move too. Pretty much any style is ok. I don't want any music with offensice language. I know, that leaves out so many quality songs. lol They can also be form pretty much any time period as well.
    Any suggestions?

Well, anything I like and that I would recommend either falls under the category of offensive language or is considered crap by you and others on this forum. So I don't know anything good. What music does that person like?

Ancalimon's question answers your question. Since the party is not for the guests, play music that the person likes. Everyone else will just have to be happy about it.

Sad to say, but for a lot of people 60's and 70's stuff seems to work in terms of getting them up to dance...

Metallica's earlier songs seem to be a good idea, as they still seem to get to people. Otherwise pretty much anything goes from Bailando's to Las Ketchup's and all. Personally, I don't like them one bit. But common people seem to. Don't take too much pressure though, as the normal parties contain nothing more but 10 or so hitsongs (which are quite plentiful even if you count out the ones with a sense of profanity in them), with another 10-20 not-so-hit songs to back them up when they get too boring. 3/4 or 4/5 or something those easy-going pop songs, and the other 1/4 or 1/5 slow ones for the romantical and more sensitive individuals.

People are easy to please, as they all like the same things. And for that reason, the market for those same things is so huge it's near impossible to fail completely in your selection of songs.

    I've got two suggestions:

"Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners and "Don't Stop me now" by Queen.

But those are probably wasted on youth nowadays. :sosad:

Hey get some stuff from MTV...i hate them but they are dance music.
I'd suggest some songs from Dave Matthews Band or Dream Theater, but they aren't party music at all.

Throw in some trance, especially from Jean and Tiesto. If you're looking for dancemusic, those are the ultimate deejays.

Well, techno, namely trance music generally gets people up and going, and it's pretty popular and stylish these days. Get a decent DJ if you can, or just play tracks from Oakenfold, Van Dyk, DJ Tiesto, Chris Lawrence, Dave Seaman, Seb Fontaine, you get the idea.

Depending on the age group, I'd get hold of some "80s hit" albums. If your friends are around your age, Elios, they grew up in the 80s, and the nostalgia (such as it is) will get them up and moving. Heck, even if they're not your age, turn it into an 80s theme party. That'd be fun.

If you want techno, I would go with Prodigy, Crystal Method, and some Rob Zombie.

If you want some good 80's songs, go buy the soundtrack to The Wedding Singer. :rolling:

It holds some truth but consider this to:
At the end of the party, the celebrant can say either of these:
    1. Elios, great songs... but the guest didn't enjoy.
    2. Elios, the songs sucks... but everyone is happy, good job.

If I were you, ask some of the possible guests. But do prepare music for each of these genres: Pop, New Wave, Funk, Disco, Rock, Techno, even Boogies and a few ballads. People might want to cool down at somepoint in the party, and putting a little romantic moment is always a good idea.

From experience at school socials, if your going to put on modern rock music, don't but on the slower songs that cannot be danced to. They may be brilliant songs and all but there is little point if they can't be danced to. Of course, I don't expect your into that sort of stuff so...

I don't know what kind of public will come but i visit a bar every weekend with a lot of different types of people and everybody seems to enjoy the music.
Deee-lite: Groove is in the heart.
    Blueboy: Remember me...
Junky XL (vs. Elvis - lil less conversation)
    The Bluesbrothers
    US3 - Cantaloop

Sometimes in a happy mood I dance to Scooter (How much is the fish), I need an extra drink for that, though.
