I find a variety is always best. Just make sure that you plan ahead for any multi-classing. Would-be Barbarians and Bards cannot be Lawful, future Druids must be partially Neutral, ambitious Paladins must be Lawful Good, and Clerics have a range of alignment restrictions depending on the chosen domain.
Whichever you choose, though, do not take the same alignment for all your characters. There are many alignment-specific items in the game, so you don't want them all to be completely excluded from use.
As far as inter-party co-operation goes, alignment is irrelevant as there are no independent character persona scripts, so you can have Lawful Good and Chaotic Evils in the same party if you really want to. Personally, I try to keep things within the realm of reason and keep character alignments believable in that they'd be working together. But there's no game-mechanic reason to do this.

Gaius is right in that there are still alignment based items. But im my opinion, it is less so relative to IWD1.

Creating an all good or an all evil or an all neutral party is certainly workable, depending on how you structure your party.

My personal preference is for an all good party, when my Cleric and Druid can zip off spells like Holy Word and Spiritual Wrath with impunity.

If you've already gone through the game at least once, or don't mind a few spoilers, take a look at Westley Weimer's items list so that you can better plan out your party.

A suggestion that I can make for Barbarian is Half-Orc. Barbarians often pack two-handed weapons because they multiply the strength bonus by 1.5, which means the Barbarian getting the most damage out of his rages.

With a Half-Orc at Strength 20, brought to 24 by rage, that's a Strength bonus damage of 10.

IMHO, members of a party would have about the same alignment. This is just a roleplaying aspect. Evil people don't hang around with the goodies in real life, too, do they? ;)

Aasimars are mostly good aligned. Tiefling tend to be evil (or neutral in a good party).
In your case this makes most sense to me:
    Paladin: LG
Fighter/Barbarian: CG/CN (CN is fun to play)
Morninglord of Lathander: NG (Lathander himself is NG)
    Rogue Ranger: CG
Sorcerer (make it Drow if you want to dualclass) any: NG for Aasimar, LN for Drow.
    Wiz: LN

Master of Nuhn About the Alignment you suggested for my party its of couse how i want it to be :) because i like a all good party put i still want to get the cool weapons that the other alignments give so i dont feel a little stupid when i get them, so the real question is ARE there any good items for Evil chars and so on or are they better/equaly replaced by the other items ??

    [IMG] Hey Taz...

Heres what I think works best for IWD2...

Drow, Female, Battleguard of Tempus, True Neutral
    Drow, Male, Necromancer, True Neutral
    Half-Orc, Male, Barbarian, True Neutral
    Human, Male, Monk, Awful Neutral
    Human, Male, Fighter, True Neutral
    Human, Male, Fighter, True Neutral
(PS: Give one of your fighters some lockpicking skills, that way you don't have to run around with a stupid rouge) ;)

That's not so bad. There are actually some good drow. That's even rarer.

Istari of Thay, I think he'd be better of with having his mage memorise Knock.

Find Traps is a lvl2 cleric spell, as is Knock for a mage. That's hardly a lot of space, because at higher levels you'll have lots of slots in lvl2, and only few then still usefull spells (of which Knock and Find Traps are two ;) )
