Need help in the Temple quest

    I have a problem in the second quest for the temple of Helm. (I have to recover a ring for another temple). Anyway, I got the quest from a Priest in the Temple district and I should look for a thief in the Slums after the night falls. So I rushed down to the slums, and started ro walk around in the slums in the night. I coludn't find him (not even in the Cooper Coronet), and I don't know where to find him?
    I have to say, that when I got this quest there was already dark. When I couldn't find him, I decided to rest for a couple of nights in the Cooper Coronet, hopimg rhat he will appear. Result=nothing. What should I do?
    p.s. it's really anoying to have in the journal that kind of unfinished business

    He should be just south of the north exit from the slums.
