necromancer and evil cleric

    Doesn't it seem odd that an evil cleric can turn undead into being the cleric's own minions? Am I missing something or is a necromancer not that powerful? In games like Diablo II and stuff, necros have a ton of pets. What's the point of a necro in D&D?

    An evil aligned cleric controls undead whereas a necromancer creates undead. Generally speaking. But a lot of the PnP game isn't implimented in the computer games.

    I guess you could SK to have a Necromancer/Cleric. You could knock out animate deads to your (black) hearts desire! :D

    Or just dual. You already need 16 WIS for being a necromancer; 17 (or 18) isn't that big of a sacrifice for being able to dual to cleric.
