    Me: Fallen Paladin-12
    Anomen: Fighter-7/Cleric-15
    Jaheira: Fighter-10/Druid-12
    Viconia: Cleric-13
    Imoen: Mage-12/Thief-7
    Edwin: Conjurer-13

I also use these NPC's in the construction phase of my party: Korgan(unidimentionnal), Nalia(bad thief), Misnc(bad fighter), Aerie(too much healer in my party). When Aerie was in my party, (cleric/mage) My paladin had his healing magic (before fallen) I had 5 on 6 party member that can heal themselve. Now I have 3 healer with Jaheira, Anomen and Viconia and I really love this party.

I you examine my levels, am I still a low level party? I'm actually in the drow city.

IMO you´re pretty low considering where you are. But it just might be me who do just about everything you can do before going after Imoen and all that :)

I, too, think you're low level but like Duke I, also, tend to do everything I can before I head into the Underdark.

Thank you all, you are a wonderful community.

I think you're right. I'm too low level to be here. I'm exactly at Balor fight. I use this walkthrough in desperate situation but I simply cannot hit him.

((Prepare to the maximum with the usual spells. To the usual preparations, I would also add two other spells. Anomen casts Free Action on Gildor, who with his +3 Celestial Fury is the one we’re depending on to kill the Balor. Minsc also has his +3 Halberd and Jaheira her +3 Spear. Imoen casts Resist Fear, because all party members in the Balor’s presence must save vs. spells or run away in fear.

Now that w’ere all prepared, everybody gathers at the northern edge of the cavern. Jaheira then casts Conjure Fire Elemental at the south side, where the Balor will appear. The point behind this is that the Symbol: Stun will be aimed at the Elemental instead of the party. Now it’s a matter of crossing my fingers and hoping Gildor takes it down. Anomen also helps out with a Bolt of Glory spell, which ignores Magic Resistance and is the most damaging against Demons. ))

Someone have a better strategy for a young party?

lol, all my characters around level 12 usually have a THAC0 of about 0 so they hit anyway. But I consider myself a cheater sometimes and have all the good weapons and items, (CLUA AddGold oh YEAH!!).

But for killing a Baalor, i think you do have a pretty good strategy, remember Imoen's spells are always effective, use magic missile or something low level to wear him down while Gildor kills him!

One time I killed the Baalor with just one chromatic orb. Yeah, that's right. No lower resist, no greater malison, just a single level 1 spell. Damn was that funny.

I brought down the shadow dragon with a doom and chromatic orb and that was suprising. I think overpowered parties are lame anyway so your party seems about right. Some spells give weapons that have +3 / +5 enchantment so hitting shound not be a prob. Just remember to buff well.

I brought down Firkie with a Chromatic Orb once. No doom, no malison, no nothing. It was the funniest thing.

Your strategy for fighting the balor is really about the best that it can be. There's very few weapons prior to Chapter 5 that can actually hurt him, so do what you can.

Free action will protect you from the Symbol: Stun.

Ive actually been using Chromatic Orb to kill demons weaker than a Cleric Pit Fiend, and it works almost all the time. I never can seem to get it to work once it fails at once, though.

There is a narrow spot in the southern corner of the Swirfneblin village where anyone who can wield a weapon with a long reach can kill the Balor while in complete safety.

For the stun spell try using the preist spell chaotic commands, and the ring of free action from the underdark, and then simply hit away. or failing this you could give all the possible protection to one person while the Balor focuses on him and bring the other party mambers in later.

Oh yes and I forgot Slayer, or you could kill the Gnome and thake it from his corpse, or you can pick pocket it.
