[IMG] Hey everyone. gonna post something here that i posted on the SoA forumn but I got a small response and it left unanswered Q's. hope I don't get bounced...

once I finish BG1 i'm gonna export my LG pally into SoA and later ToB. but i'm gonna use the Sola and Kelsey mods(first ones ever).

    My party will be:
    Palladin PC
    Sola
    Kelsey
    Jan
    HD
    Anomen

please rate this party and let me know how to play Sola and what are sola's stats? is he evil and if so does he turn good? Please let me know:)

IIRC (it's been a long time), Sola is a CN fighter/mage. His alignment can change to CG, depending on how he gets his Moonblade. I'm not sure about all of his stats, but I do recall his Con being 10 - I gave him Gaal's belt to compensate. I only got as far as getting him his Moonblade. The trademark Weimer fights were too hard for me, even with reloads and prep spells. I ended up CTRL+Ying everything. :nono:

As for your party, you can play with whomever you like. I feel that 4 mages is overboard for arcane magic and that one cleric won't be enough for divine spells. Pallys get spells, yes, but because they are casting as 9th level clerics, I don't count on them for much except low-ranking healers.

A quick question - is your pally male or female? If female, you have 3 romances to deal with.

Arcane magic is, in my oppinion, the 'best' way of fighting in SoA. Mages are by far the most powerful class in the game. Hence, I neither think four arcane casters are too much or one divine caster is too few. I personally go with one divine on my current run-through. Of course it's nice to have more diviners (you could go with four divine and one arcane just as well, it's not a matter of life or death).

ToB however, is a fighters world. Again, I think that one divine caster will do. Having four arcane casters in ToB however, could be hard. Mages aren't as powerful, but since Sola, Anomen and HD are "part fighters", you'll probably do alright. I am concerned about the fighting though. Anomen is only dual, Haer'Dalis isn't a pure fighter and Sola is multiclassed.

I think it's a very(!) interesting line-up, though personally, I'd probably go with Sarevok in ToB.

    Now I'm just rambling ;)

it sounds like i should bounce HD then. i've never played with him and he seemed interesting but i'll handle. For fighting skills I would want a good fighter. Mazzy or Keldorn? what about minsc, he is super strong hey? my pally is male Kuemper. is there any point in having 2 pallys? thanks for answering :)

Kuemper can you tell me more about the moon blade quest. it doesn't look like my party will be strong enough to handle. shot

Hey it is not that bad. Sola is, how shalL I put this, he needs love so much that tiny differences like gender does not matter for him. :p

The romance is not that bad. We debated pylosophy and talked about very intellectual things.

Eventually, things got 'Hot' but you can always decline him kindly. He gets very useful powers and items in his romance, and very nasty fights as well.

If your PC is good aligned, Sola starts as CG. If PC is evil he is CN. This is unique as his alignment changes for the PC.

Hope this helps. Definitely get him, do not flinch as he will romance your PC, but then again, a paladin MAY not want to commit in such a...err, relationship :shake: But he is worth it! :thumb:

    What would Torm think?! :shame:

(I'd rofl for reals if going through Sola's romance as a male paladin made you fallen.)

Well, think it as a 'support' for the ultimate redemption of a drow. You create a new champion for good. You only need to show some little...'support'. :shake:

Paladins may act as the 'teacher' and 'wise guy' type, not potential lovers, there are always 'cold' dialogue options. I think Torm won't mind it as long as they don't get...there. :nono:

If ye got Sola and a paladin, I think you'll pull through, having Haer'Dalis in there as well. Atleast in SoA, more doubtfully in ToB.

    Edit:
Help! i just read about the eclipse party and i want to try beat them but will i need an ultimate powergaming party to do so? I want my palladin, kelsey and sola but anyone else is your call.

Mazzy Fentan. She can totally kick on the front lines or as an archer. She has 5* in short bows and 3* (iirc) in short swords. She's a halfling fighter found in the Umar shade temple.

No one in your named party should leave if you take the good path.

I can't advise on the eclipse party. I never made it beyond Sola getting his Moonblade. :bad:

If you don'T have any mods to enhance Asylum or Underdark, you can go there quckly. You don't need to finish other major quests, if you take Sola and Immy with you and then finish all other quests, let them enjoy the XP.

Mazzy will be very durable as she is a halfling cutie, she gets neat saving throws. I don't think she will be very useful, though I never played with her actually. I get the impression that archery is for weak and support-type characters. :p

I'm not planning to take immy though. if not mazzy then who? exactly what quests do you think i should do? the bare minimum so that i can get as much experience for my final party as possible.

thanks for all the answers so far guys. :)

Don't let my opinion on Mazzy discourage you! Prove me wrong that she is very powerful! Huh?

You can always use good old Minsc and Boo. Jaheria is the best tank out there, with lowest AC, best saving throws, various immunities, huge resistances, (items/spells/special abilities) she is next to impossible to kill! Add the fact that she can heal, summon, protect herself. She will get GWW and have neat # of attacks per round.

You need to do a few easy quests for raising GP. Try Shadow Thieves quest, Slavers Quest, and loot the graveyard. They are relatively easy.

There are only 3 'true fighters' in the whole game: Mazzy (LG), Korgan (CE) and Sarevok (CE). These are the NPCs that can wear any armor and wield 98% of the weapons. I suggested Mazzy because:

    1. Her alignment fits well with the rest of your named party.

    2. The whole shade temple can be put off until you're ready to tackle it. Most others complain about not getting their quests done. Unless you have Unfinished Business (UB) installed, Mazzy shouldn't say boo about not cleansing the shade temple.

    3. She's really kicks it with a shortbow and you'll find good ones early (Tuigan, Tasheron's). Archery isn't that great in BG2, but why not take potshots while the enemies are at a distance? Sick her on that mage while your pally and Anomen beat up the summons or bodyguards?

    4. She has sweet special abilities. Invoke Courage is similar to Remove Fear, Lay of Hands (she's a pally of Arvoreen) Haste is only for her and Strength is only for her.

Korgan is a battlerager (berserker) with a great strength (18/77). His only weakness is dex (15). He's got 5* in axes and 1* in warhammers. He gets the Rage ability, which makes him immune to too much stuff (mostly mind-affecting things). His alignment would make it hard to keep him happy if you're bent on getting a high rep. He will leave if you don't get his book back fast enough.

Quests - Do one or two big ones (I do Unseeing Eye and De'Arnise Keep) for the loot. Side with either Shadow Thieves or Bodhi and do their tasks. When done with either, take the ship and clear out Brynnlaw to rescue Imoen (or not) I suggest making sure anyone you plan on fighting melee get a +3 weapon before trucking off to Brynnlaw.

When you go to Brynnlaw, you are first able to continue with the sidequests in chap 6 if I remember correct? Pardon me for asking, but it has been a while :)
