My download speed

    Going by my avarge speed of 25kb/sec I'd say it's crawling along slowly.

    Yeah... My average DL speed is 150-200kb/s, so I'd say it's rather slow :p (I even had ~125kb/s with my old 512 connection).

    56 kb/s, steady maximum, with my connection. Are you still using some ancient modem or do you have some malware on your comp? You might be downloading animal porn even without knowing it. :p

    Starts at 160-200k, then degrades to 66-80k if the file is big (15MGs).

    My new PC download speed was around 500kb/second. It is very fast. I downloaded a 80MB program in about a 2 minute.

    The download speed has nothing to do with your PC, only with the kind of Internet connection you have. You can hit certain HD write limits with very high download speeds and an ancient hard drive, but that combination is not very likely anyway.

    If you are using a modem your download speed is going to be lower than those of use who are using ethernet (cable/DHL).

    Mine varies between 100kb/s and 200kb/s... it seems quite a big fluctuation to me, but there it is...

    That might be because you have a shared connection, at one point or another. For example: your ISP gives you more bandwidth when there is only a few people online, and when there is more; what you ordered.

    In the worst cases the ISP doesn't regulate the usage of the net and thus one user can steal it all for himself by setting up a server/spam-bot/etc. Happened to me too, before they fixed this. Pretty much everyone in our local, who used the same connection, was ready to burn'n'stake the whole company due of the delay. Rates were about 3 kb/s, too, except for that one smart-ass who took all the rest. :nolike:

    I have 10/10, but I ususaly get up to about 1 mbit/s when I download from someone with a good connection. Sometimes, when I download from certain servers, I get up to 2-3 mbit/s!

    The longer the chain, the more crucial the weakest link is; you can't transfer 1-2 megs over a 512 connection and the same applies to networks. Even if you have a good ADSL, you might as well ask "have all the servers between me and me file have the same?" ;)

    Around 300~600 at home, although my friends who have VDSL connections get as fast as 1.5 MBs per sec. whoo hoo~

    I've got a semi-steady 512k/s connection, but when I try to download anything, my max download speed is only 100k/s or something like that. I think that's a bandwith limiter that Qwest or MSN has within their software. I kow my 512k/s DSL is broken up in to 384 k/s DL and 128k/s UL...but there are times where I need to use all 384 of my max download speed when I'm downloading files around 1GB in size...but I can never seem to DL faster than 100k/s. :cry: :rolling:
