[IMG] We are about to start NWN on a LAN with two players... What do you think about our posse?

Human Paladin (for melee, buffing and healing)

Elf Rogue-Wizard (for ranged, thieving and arcane)
    or
Elf Battle Sorcerer with Pixie as a familiar (for ranged, arcane and thieving)

Personally, I think we covered all necessary things: melee, ranged, healing, buffing, thieving and arcane magic.
Any comments on our builds? What would be the best choice for the support character, the rogue-wizard or the battle sorcerer with familiar?

A fighter 4/paladin x would be better imo. He would get quite powerful when he's gained some lvls in paladin. With the fighter lvls you'll get weapon focus and weapon focus and specilization...
Fighter lvl's should be placed first, though.

As support, Rogue-Wizard I'd guess. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to remove traps.

Yes, we were thinking about the paladin/fighter build, but we were going to add the fighter levels later on in the game...

For the support: can't Pixie (the familiar of my sorcerer) remove traps and pick locks? That's the whole idea, to have a powerful arcane caster who's able to pick locks & remove traps... I thought with Pixie, our thieving problems were solved...

Oh yeah, of course it can

With the Rogue-wizard build you'll get some interesting feats at the later stages, however when talking in pure casting power, the sorcerers would probably be the best.

Remember that wizards and sorcs get two spells that make rogue levels unneccesarry: Knock for opening locks and Find Traps for finding and -- yes -- DISARMING traps. Both spells are area effect and are a lot more convenient than a rogue disarming and picking each and every little pesky trap and lock you come across.

Thus, I'd say skip the rogue multiclass altogether and go pure wizard or sorc. Though if you insist on rogue/caster, I'd go wizard as you'll benefit from lots of skill points from high intelligence.

I tried playing a rogue-sorcerer once, he turned out to be a pretty powerful character. High dexterity meant I could use a bow extremely well, and I didn't have to wear armor, so no arcane spell failure. Having a familiar was pretty fun too, adds a distraction in combat.

Obviously, I didn't bother taking Knock or Find Traps, favoring attacking spells for tougher enemies.

But hey, it really depends on your style of play. Id say that with a melee characters support, you'd do very well together.
