[IMG] If you multi class a dwarf to a fighter/thief, what levels can he get with both classes?

It is a ballanced char - give him a strength enhancer (girdle/ gauntlets) and he will have a great offensive ppunch as a backstabber, causing pentuple damage. With dex-19 his ranged weapon THACO will be around 0.

His base thieving abilities will be perfect (100 - leave the rest for potions & items) in, for example, hide in shadows & move silent & open locks & find-disarm traps ... (I usually neglect set traps & detect illusions). For *me* this was powerful enough ;) And as a halfling you will have neat saving throws too given you have wis-18 & con-18. And then add the boots of speed and the shadow dragon scale .... and nice weapons like kashiko's wakizashi/ c'fury/ gesen's or tansheron's bow ... neat :)

[IMG] Actually, I haven´t managed to backstab. I just don´t know how to! I hide in shadows, stand next to an enemy and attack him. He get´s hurt but it´s from normal damage. :p
    What´s the problem?

It's old story. When hided in shadows and placed behind target, you must simply click on it. Check you weapon (you may search this forum for weapons for backstabing).

Take care that you stand close to your victim to prevent leaving the shadow and therefor becoming visible *before* attack. This way, means visible, you will start a normal attack. I found it quite handy to use the F2 key to make a backstabbing attack directly from the shadows.
Backstabbing can be a silly with dualwielding when your weapons have the same attack initiatve. I can only recommend using *single weapon* style for backstabbing.

You said you know the link already but there is a short guide to backstabbing at the end. For training I recommend to load a savegame to practice backstabbing, on your own party if necessary.

Zaragoth - for backstabing problems - are you wearing the boots of speed, by any chance? There is a bug that causes your thief to exit shadows before attacking (or something to that effect) if your thief is wearing speedboots at the time.

There is a fix for this (sorry, I don't have a link to that patch) or you can just follow these steps...

    1) Hide in shadows (I'm assuming your Hide in Shadows and Move Silently are acceptably high).
    2) Get behind your target.
    3) Pause and enter the inventory screen.
    4) Remove speedboots and ensure that your selected weapon is a melee weapon (throwing dagger won't backstab).
    5) Exit inventory screen and initiate the attack.
    6) Unpause and watch the bits fly.
    7) Crack a cold one.

ragusa: Sorry, but you have given wrong info about the thiefs in your "Why thives rule" thingie.
The bounty hunter get´s 20% each level. The Assassin ONLY, get´s 15% each level. Just wanted you to know.
    ;)
