So, i'm thinking of buying a new MP3 player. I have an old Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (Catchy name, no?), but it's starting to show it's age. Namely, it doesn't work anymore. However, the years of abuse are at an end.

I want something around 20-30gb. For now, consider money as no object.

    Go!

When money is no object, you obviously want to think in fruity terms.

So you think he should get a "fabulous" mp3 player, then? :p

I've had bad luck with creative MP3 players, particularly the Zen micro. Like Tal said, go for a 4th or 5th gen iPod. Again - if money is no object.

I've been doing some looking around, and narrowed it to an iPod (30gb), or a Creative Zen Vision:M (30gb).

Come on guys, sway my decision...

I really like the iPod. iTunes is easy to use and they seem to have largely corrected the battery life problem. The only thing I don't like is that if you rip your cds using iTunes, it puts them in the Apple proprietary format, not in mp3 format. You can always rip them using some other program and then import in the mp3's to iTunes if you don't like the Apple format, though.

If you lived with the size of of a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, then the Zen Vision: M is what you should probably go with.

Besides playing music and movies, it does photos, has an FM tuner/recorder, voice recorder, "removable storage" feature, and great navagation. It's also smaller than your current player. :thumb: :rolling:

Well, it got here, and early impression are good. It's a fantastic little player, even the earphones included sound good. Will probably post more thoughts when i've owned it for a bit.

On the note of earphones, I've found a pair of Sony ear buds for $40 that are amazing. They sit in the ear canal, not the ear's opening...and are made of super soft silicone...that means you can have them in your ears for hours on end without your ears hurting! They act like ear plugs when you don't have music playing too. :thumb: http://www.google.com/products?q=sony+MDR+ex51&btnG=Search&show=dd

Oh, and CJ, if you have any extra cash, you can buy me a Creative Vision: M too. :D :rolling:
