More computer problems (speakers)

    [​IMG] We had some sort of power surge last nightwhen i was on the internet. Now my altec acs495 speakers won't recognize that my USB Cable is still connected. I have tried to disconect them from my sub-woofer and back of the tower, i have tried to put the manager back into the start-up, but none of this has worked.
    The troubleshooting section said that if i unplug the usb cables while the comp was running they would automatically be put into the taskbar, but that did not happen.


    the speakers work, but i can not turn up the volume.(i can hear that static stuff if i put my ear up to them)

    Do you have any other USB equipment to test whether your USB ports still work? Maybe the power surge ruined the USB port... Do you not have your computer and peripherals on a surge supressor?

    my comp is on a protector, but as soon as the surge came, the speakers stoped and i couldn't ajust the volume. i don't think that i have any other USB hardware right now.
    i also don't think that it ruined the USB port because (like i said above) i can still hear some (very very quiet) sound.

    P.S. when i go into the speaker manager, it gives me a message that "Warning--no USB cable connected".

    ok, you can close this topic now, cause i found out why.
    When i unplugged the USB cable, i accidentally plugged it back into the port next to it. the cables above the port kept me from seeing that there were actually two different ports there. :mad: :mad: :mad:

    and i was working on that for almost two hours this morning!!!!!!!
