Would Monk/Sorcerer be a good class to solo?
It wouldnt need much equipment and I could combine some spells to make him a pretty good killing mashine even in the beginning(later levels would be no problems with the monks special abilites).
As a race I could use an Aasimar(which, if I remember correctly, gets bonus to both wisdom and charisma)

How should I distribute my stat points?

I would recommend Drow for race as you get +2 to DEX, INT and CHA. But even more important is the spell resistance. If you are going to solo you need more protection from magic than just saving throws. While the Monk eventually gets spell resistance, it is dangerous to wait that long. Also, if you are soloing, do not worry about the ECL penalty for being a drow, it will be a nonissue.

As far as stat distribution, you are going to have fairly mediocre stats. CHA is usually the main dump stat for monks, but you cannot do that. Decide whether you want to be monk who can cast some spells or a sorcerer who can do some fighting. If your main emphasis is on monk, then STR, DEX and WIS become priorities. If your main emphasis is on sorcerer, max CHA then put points in DEX and WIS.

Also, you will probably want to choose Cat's Grace and Bull's Strength as spells so you can get a decent DEX and STR.

As for stat increases from leveling, if emphasizing monk, put them into DEX to improve AC, Reflex saves, "to hit" if you weapon finessed your fists, and your DEX based skills. If emphasizing sorcerer, put them into CHA.

Also, I would not recommend that you shoot for Monk (15) / Sorcerer (15) as that will give you the worst of both worlds. Decide which you want to emphasize and go for Monk (20) / Sorcerer (10) or Monk (10) / Sorcerer (20).

    Hope that helps some.

Hmm, perhaps a monk/cleric (if its possible) would be better, since both gain bonus from WIS, and drows favourite class is cleric. If its "impossible" I will try with Dalekeeper

Ah, now if you are interested in Monk/Cleric the synergies are better. In that case you are looking for cleric spells to buff yourself into a killing machine. Go for Deep Gnome for race. +2 to DEX and WIS is just what you want. The spell resistance is nice, as I pointed out for drow. Even better, a deep gnome gets a generic +4 AC -- that will really make you tough to hit. Having a mirror image and blur spell will help in really tough fights. The drawback for most people is the +3 ECL penalty, but as a solo that is not a problem so do not let that hold you back.

Since you really want cleric for the buffing spells you can either stop at 9th level so you have champions strength, or 11th level so you have heal. While getting a 20th level monk would be nice, as a solo character Heal would be almost too good to miss. Thus, I would recommend Monk (19) / Cleric (11).

Maximize your wisdom. Make it 20 at character creation and put all your level-up points into it. This will give you more clerical spells, make the few offensive ones tougher to resist, increase your AC, and increase your will save.

    Good luck.

But which order would you make your Cleric/Monk?

Monk of the Broken Ones can freely multiclass woth Cleric of Ilmater, and must be Lawful Good.

Monk of the Dark Moon can freely multiclass with Sorcerer, and must be Lawful Evil.

Monk of the Broken Bones/ Painbearer of Ilmater is a valid multiclass. This one has to be LG.
The Monk of the Dark Moon/Sorcerer must be LE.

Honestly Monk makes sence only at L3 or at L20. You must decide if you want to be a magic user with a chance at staying alive in hand-to-hand combat or a meleer with some defensive spells.

I just love watching the Monk run around really fast when he gets to a certain level.

What level should I be with the monk/sorcerer to be able to solo in HoF?

That's quite enough. You'll kill a goblin and level up. Then you'll kill another one and another levelup. Perhaps you'll kill two of them next time and level up again. And then you'll be powerful already :)

Right now i've started through HoF with three sorcerers. Damn easy, i even tried level squating. It could be done, but it'd be pretty boring not being able to finish a fight without retreating for rest.
I was thinking about mirror image, stoneskin and various other protections that dont increase your AC with combination of a Fireshield. Fireshield is powerful, really powerful, but as much as i saw thi tactics cant hold in HoF. 4 goblins chaged at me, taking down my mirror images in less than a round then proceded to pummel me to a little pulp of blood on the ground. I did about 16 damage with the shield though :)

You might get more use of this style though, being a part meleer, though i guess you'll depend more on AC than spells to keep you alive. No matter, even if rarely, the nasty elemental damage will teach those foolinsh enough to roll natural 20ties against you what a sorcerer's about ;) :thumb:
