I'm hearing more and more good things about the Monk. Looks like Deep Gnome might be the most effective racial choice for Monk also.

What are your opinions of the Monk, and how do you use them?

Do small sized Monks do less damage?

Klorox - you're full of questions today.

    1) The Deep Gnome Monk is a freaky character (some would say cheesey) due its ridiculous AC possibilities.

    2) Generally speaking, monks are cool because they run faster and are great at taking out enemy magic users in a party situation. At low levels they're a bit weak but they're awesome at higher levels.

Monks are pretty weak to begin with, but just like BG II, they get EXTREMELY powerful at later levels. If you haven't played 1 just look in the manual and read the description and you'll understand! I'm pretty sure a lot of other people agree with me ...

But I heard there is a bug in IWD2, as monks attack unarmed, and unarmed attack versus an armed opponent creates an attack of opportunity in 3E, monks get beaten pretty much in the game. Normally, monks are so skilled in unarmed fighting that they do not provoke attacks of opportunities, BUT I heard that it is not implemented in the game so monks tend to be attacked and hurt far too much to my liking. Is this true?

:sigh: Again an issue that the patch does not address. Perhaps the EoU does but its not clear.

IWD2 don't see differences between small and large races. At least not when it comes to Monk-damage, ability to use weapons and the - to hit/+ to AC adjustment of the normal D&D.

I thought there were no attacks of opportunity in this game ???

Can I fill a valuable tank role with a Monk? What is the recommended racial choice for these guys?
