How greedy are you? Do you take the gold and cherry-pick the treasure for the stuff you need, or do you scoop up everything that you can hold and run off to the nearest shopkeeper?

We're definitely in the latter category. We just finished Sendai's enclave and our bankroll is more than 550K gold pieces! This doesn't even count all the stuff we have stashed away "just in case," or the stashes we have scattered around Athkatla that we no longer have access to.

As the game winds down, just what is all that money good for, anyway?!

Monte Haul baby! You never know when you'll need it. I even keep a gem bag filled with the best that I find, in case I need some cash later.

Well I'm playing through ToB for the first time now, and I was keeping everything and selling it at first, but when I hit like 200k, I pretty much stopped. Almost everything Cespanar makes is like 5-20k (I think a couple items might be 40k) so you dont really need that much money. The only thing I'm worried about is I may run into some vendor with a bunch of phat items, and I wont have enough money to buy them all. ;)

I'm currently soloing with an archer. I'm now entering the Underdark with about 15ok of gold. Me thinks it's too much to be fun. You don't have to save money for a special item that you really want. You just buy it. The game should be more balanced in the money-way...

I grab everything possible -- I like to have ridiculous amounts of the best possible ammo at all times, and also have the ability to upgrade everything possible, even if it isn't overly relevant for my party.

I dont do it intentialy but i'm always stuck with minor treasures flooding my inventory and then i have to make a purge inside.

But i never have any problems with cash even though i am a bit short of it right now. There still remains standard steal-sell technique. :D

How could anyone resist the lure of shining pieces of gems and gold lying on the floor? I would spend all night worrying about gold if I left and not picked it up.

Wouldn't you feel they were going to waste just letting them lie around, especially in some maggot-infested, muddy hole that a dragon you slayed lived in?

I think I may be developing kleptomania too. I can't resist stealing from the stores with Jan - and I'm a paladin too!

I sell everylast dagger and leather armour I can. I once bust the 1 million bux mark. Too bad there is nothing to do with it all. Perhaps we could accidently give it to a dragon in Suldanessalar in exchange for a golden cup...

It's kinda cool to store nifty items in your stronghold. I'm also collecting souvenirs from my quests...(like the Mask of King Strohm and such..)

Farthy, no limit. Well unless you actually got so much that it went 9999999999999 out of the box but i don't think it's possible, without cheating or doing random encounters for yonks, to get that much. The money must be like credit because no-one can steal it from you and it doesn't weigh anything and the same money you picked up from a orc works everywhere, clever money :money:

Remember Nishruu? I heard that as it drains charges from wands, it sometimes drains 2 charges instead of one. And if you get to -1 charges, the wand can be sold for several millions of gps (wicked grin)

I only pick up gold if it is over 100 gp. What I usually do is collect the items that are abundant throughout the game, such as Plate Mail +1, and the Long Sword +1, then whenever I need to buy something, I sell items that I'm not collecting to buy whatever I need. As an added bonus, at the end of ToB, right before I face the last of the five, I count how many weapons and armor I've collected, which is usually in the 200-300's, and then I sell them all. :rolling:

There was a bug with glasses of identifying. I could sell it for something over 13 milions.

It's really too bad there's nothing you can do with all that money.
I'd like to hire mercenaries, Red mages, fighters,...
I'd be so cool to walk against Yaga-shura's army with you'r own army. Even if they'd get slaughtered in first minute.
    You own mage-army

HA! I am the ultimate Monty Haul guru!
500k before leaving Athkatla the first time.
In the end of ToB i have something like 1500k + a huge amount of magical treasure (Firetooth, Celestial Fury +5, Lilacor +5, Sarevok's Blade of Chaos +4, Crom Fayer +5, Red/Blue/White dragon plate, Grandmaster's armor, Staff of the Magi, Hindo's doom...)

There's the steal-sell tactic and it combined with 4 potions of master thievery + Plate of Balduran makes much moneymoneymoney.

While we have no such limit, I will admit that we never steal the gold from tables in inns. Those poor wenches deserve their meager tips!

I do a little of both, actually. I usually pick up everything I come across, but I will invariably run out of inventory space partway-through. Then I drop the non-magical stuff and take the magic + as many normal items as I can carry.

Well, when soloing a Sorcerer I pretty much saved up that 15,000 to get to chapter 3, then stopped even caring about gold in general.

All of the good items for a Sorcerer come from doing specific quests and earning them, I can't think of one that I actually had to purchase.

Although, once I got the bag of holding I began to loot any remotely magical item and sell it. Even though I never spent a quarter of that gold, at the very least I was helping Faerun's economy by selling top notch magical items at bargain prices.
