I'm sure there cannot be a greater or funnier NPC in this entire game.

Yeah Minsc has to be the NPC that stands out most (unless like me you've a bizarre affection to Xzar). The only trouble with Minsc is that after a couple of hours of wandering about with him at the head of your party his witticisms begin to get a tad annoying. That and I can't think why he's a ranger, where's his connection to nature exactly(other than Boo of course!)? Still he's probably the toughest good aligned warrior you can get (once given the gauntlets of dexterity at least) so he's to be praised highly for that alone. His best line? Surely it has to be "Magic is impressive, but now Minsc leads! Swords for everyone!"

 

Everywhere in the Realms the evils fear to hear:

"Go for the eyes Boo! Go for the eyes! Raaugh!"

Ugh...those lines are still annoying. Don't get me wrong, I like Minsc as much as anyone. But if I have to hear "Ah we are all heroes, you and Boo and I. Hamsters and rangers everywhere, rejoice! Squeak, squeak!", I may just scream. His lines were very annoying. The best NPC dialog was by far Coran and Quayle for myself. I always meant to have Tiax in my party just to hear all his lines, but I never played far enough in my evil game to get him. *shrugs* Ah well, I'll just have to settle for Xar (who's dialog was better than MInsc's for the most part IMO by the way).

I'm starting to enjoy Kagain now too, allthough it's hard to make out lot's of what he's saying. But when he don't like my high reputation, he sais something like this:

"You chumps, what the hell do you think you're doing?"

And for party leader:

"As a leader I plan to make this party stinking rich!"



Oh God, how this game is great!

 

I loved it when Xzar would say

"I have become death...destroyer of worlds!!" when he got excited and how he'd moan about the daylight all the time. I'm not sure why but one of my favourite spoken lines in the game has to be when Nimbul accosts you

"I am death come for thee...surrender and your demise will be...quicker"

It just sounded really sinister and stuff, just what you didn't want to be confronted by having wandered around Nashkel mines and then been ambushed by those mercanary amazons on exiting them. NIMBUL ROCKS! OK he was a bit of a weakling really but nevermind huh?

 

I laughed my elven arse off when I heard Kagain tell Khalid to shut up or get his mouth stuffed with horse-shit!!!

 

I experienced this nice little dialogue today:

Dynaheir - "Must thou keep that rodent so close? 'Tis surely unclean."

Minsc - "I take no offense from your comments. You just don't understand the bond I have with Boo."

 

Ahh, well how about when Minsc pops off a line directed toward Quayle and he responds back, "Who taught this chimp to talk? The things they can't do these days."

 

minsc is annoying. when i have minsc on my team(believe it people i had him b4!), all i heard was "yes boo? squeak, squeak."

shadow_thief has something against ALL npcs. check the bg2 forum...

 

Minsc spoke these wise words to Branwen the other day:

Choose your friends wisely. Not all are as trustworthy as Minsc and Boo.

 

i agree Boo, they look to be friendly. Greetings, we are Minsc and Boo. We have traveled far to explore this land, but now my charge Dynaheir has been taken from us. 'Twas gnolls, and once we have tracked them I will beat sense into their heads until they release her. Accompany us and bards will sing the deeds of Minsc and Boo....and friends.
