You do seem to pick holes in BG2 an awful lot. It is not nor does it profess to be perfect in any way but I have yet to see a better RPG offering the same type of scope and plot intrigue. Yes, other games have have certain features that it lacks but no game encompasses what BG2 manages to. You want more than 300+ hours of gameplay??? From one game?? My advice of course is to get a life or buy some new games. I recommend Super Mario Bros. for the old NES, priceless.

Well I gotta agree with the original comment here, that Kaiso just finds things he dont like in the game, then he logs onto a message board and complains about each and every one of them, Thats just stupid and lame if you ask me.

Message for kasio needs a kasio's comment.
Parvini you say taht i seem to pick holes in BG2 an awful lot. I personally think i havent even started to pick holes, what you call holes is abyss for me! You ask why dont i stop playing it and do something more serious? I just came up with best example possible to describe my feeling about BG2. Well I guess for male audience only :) (Discalimer: This example is meant in figurative sense. I dont feel sexual excitment playing BG2, nor looking on its CD) So imagine The Girl. The most wonderful woman you have ever seen. Tall, blond hair, large lake-like green eyes, thick sexy lips, bust of 100 cm... Let it be Aerie+PamelaAnderson... This is ideal BG. NOW add to your image brushy red moustage and beard... yea! gather yourself up! add them!!! Now you get BG2 what i see it! How about your symphaty now? Emotions cease, dont they? Ok, but dont forget that excluding moustage+beard this is MOST beautiful woman in the world... Some small changes and she is Infinite Grace... what about plastic surgery, you think. what about shaving?
I am here to ask you how are you feeling about your bearded beauty? Dont you think it needs shaving? (btw if you didnt shave your beaty now, i forecast that in next issues your beauty will probably gain a horn on the forehead and additional 200 pounds wight... Changes will be problematic then)

And IronEagle you say that i log onto a message board and complain all and everything and thats just stupid and lame if we ask you... Well you have to admit that this forum is not only for questions/topics like "Where is Carsomyr"; "How to kill kangaxx"; "What is thac0?", but also for more "philosophic", abstract, global questions and expressions, havent you? And dont you agree this should be democratic forum, where everyone can express his opinion, would it be good or no? Besides according to your profile you live in "The first city in baulders gate 2". I guess you have a lot of people there for your BG2 discussions. I am sorry to inform you that my only community for BG2 discussion and audience for my thoughts on this topic is here, Sorcerers place forum. If IronEagle can call the discussion itself lame and stupid, ok, what i do here is lame and stupid.

Down with the Myconoids! Long live the Dragons!

Well normally it wouldnt matter your right, but your asking questions that only the makers would know, like "why arnt there portraits, and "why arnt there more Npc's" those questions should be reserved for those live chats with the game makers.

IronEagle, i know these questions should be adressed to developers, which are here not. But there are lots of people who are experts in crpg, ad&d and BG series. Lots of them. And they follow all news and events concerning this game. Also online chats and interviews you mentioned. So I thought there would be some here who would know.
My only eventual mistake would be in wording:
I should have asked: "Does anyone know why [-question i asked-]?" But if this is reason enough for you to come down on me, i would dare to say that you are the one who is picking holes here.

[IMG] So... red pianos=red beards? Of course, it all makes sense now!

If you really feel that way about BG2, kasio, some people here might accept your critisisms of their prized game if you included in your post things you like about the game as well as suggestions of things that could be improved.

You know, post something like- She's got a nice figure and great eyes, but if she only she would shave her face every once in a while...
Right now all you seem to be posting is RED BEARD! RED BEARD! RED BEARD!!!!!

    Just a suggestion. ;)

As a DM of pen and paper AD&D (D&D) I like players who tries to advance the game. Change it and make it prettier and better. I have had numerous discussions with players which have let to a greater joy of the game.

If any of you have a problem with kasio's questioning the game, I'll say it is wrong.

I have pondered about some of the same questiones myself, but kasio just have the guts to ask them. If You find them lame or improper. Fine Just don't answer them.

I don't find Kasio repulsive and annoying even though I am discussing Charisma with him on another Post?

Questions might bring answers and change. And change can be to the better. also for BG2.

Dear Nobleman and Bowie, I do not only level to the ground existing BG2, but also suggest a solutions to end this delirium. But unfortunately when i post them here, they are moved to "local Recycle Bin" - forum directory named "Whatnots". So people like you can not read them (and then people suggest me to gather my thoughts and accuse me for not suggesting the improvements WHEN ACTUALLY them are all done!) because all my posts are scattered through all the forum directories.
Please take a look at my suggestions for improvement: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000522.html

Particulary the note posted in May 09, 2001 11:02. I explain in details all faults i have noticed and asku you to judge my opinion. 1st thing to improve the game would be remove these AWFUL things.

Pheew! 45 minutes and a lot of thoughts later..

I can see that You are clearly very dedicated in this, kasio. You are not just trying to irritate and be a "whatsnot" as they call it.

But I'll have to think a few days, before coming with my opinion. You have put a lot of work in this, so You naturally deserve a wellthought answer.

After reading all the post at your link, it seems as NOONE has learned ANYTHING from the discussion. It has NOT been fruitfull and rewarding.

I do have one thing to say before retiring to my big-old thinking-chair.
I'll try to put words on ONE of Your feelings that I am sure You have a hard time expressing to the audience.

"I find that it is almost impossible to screw up in any of the quest." "I took me absolutely no hard time of "thinking" to solve ANY of the "Puzzles"/Quests in the game".

As a DM of P&P I like my players to think. Even though they might solve a quest, I put more layers of plots into the quest. The more clever they are the more reward they get. Reward could be better payment, more xp, better weopon rewards and it could be alliances& friendship too. But this is too demanding to a Computergame, I think??.

A FAIR BIT OF THE FEELING, THAT YOUR ACTIONS DO HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE WORLD IN BG2, OR IN SHORT:A LITTLE PART OF THE VERY CONFUSING TERM "REALISM"

I'll return and edit this message by monday trying to figure out where You,Kasio, and the "Audience" fails to agree, and bring peace and solutions.

4 now a three day long non stop BG-weekend starts for me. So have fun out there.

Ps. I can't help but noticing that red piano out there.

EDITED HERE: Kasio, I think You should find some friends that are willing who have adventurous minds. download or buy the books needed to play Pen&Paper. And play Pen&Paper.
And keep on telling what You think is wrong with computerRPG. Eventually something good might come out of it. NOTHING bad can come out of it.

    [IMG] Aye, people!

    Nothing is perfect at all.
BG2 has pros and cons, but that is not a problem. The developers chose this way, to concentrate on the adventure, not the geography etc...

BG2 is a concept, that feeds on RPG but the rules have been modified for the developers and the players convinience.

BG2 doesn't need to be perfect!
I like it as it is!

    TIN_MAN ;)
If everybody talked like you (I like it as it is! and do on) there would be no BG2 after BG1 :)
    and no BG1
    and no computergames
    and no computers
    and no electricity
and if we go even deeper.. there would be no TIN_MAN ;)

On the other hand Kasio, if the developers were like you, there would still be no BG2. Those that strive for absolute perfection in every detail usually accomplish nothing. Sorry, but compromise is just a fact of life.

i personally think u should take up a job as a desighn tester/critic with black isle(or other...smaller company)

u do have many insightful thoughts, but we all bore of u speaking purly negative all the time. there are going to be "holes' in every game EVERY time wether u like it or not, but if u don't want to keep playing the game because of these minor details, stop.

what i think parvini is getting at is that u just need to lighten up.

    P.S. supermario rocks!!!
